What do I do with a Verification Code

Can anyone explain to this luddite what he’s meant to do with the 8 digit verification code received?

It's an 8 digit number sent in an SMS from ID just after confirming that I'd switched to ID from another provider.

Possibly just a confirmation number to confirm the switch?
