Whatapp delayed sending

My whatapp messages are always delayed when sending and received. Both me and my partner have a motorola rzar 40 and can send a message at 10am and it doesn't go through till 2 hours later causing issues with communication. I've rebooted and got all the updates so why is this still happening!?
