Why was Hard Credit Check done for a SIM Only one month product and customers are not informed of  the Hard Check?

It clearly states the following within the FAQ section which is located on the bottom of the Sim Only Deals page.

Will there be a credit check on a SIM only deal?

For a Pay Monthly SIM only deal, you will need to pass a credit check. We'll always ask your permission before we run a credit check and we'll inform you about our decision as soon as possible.

Due to the absence of a handset, SIM Only applications are more likely to pass a credit check than Pay Monthly deals. However, if your application has been declined please don't hesitate to get in touch with our team. We'll try our best to find a solution that works for you.

..so where in that statement does it states “Hard Credit Check” would be carried out. Wont just a soft check had been sufficient for that…? Even the big network providers don’t do hard credit check for such a product. 

So tell me…??

How does it even make business sense to run a hard check for a ONE month only ‘contract’ product…?? That’s moe expensive for the business. When a customer may decide NOT to stay with the business after the first month… like I am about to do. Clearly this company has no best interest of the customers at heart, do they…..???  If so, they would have consider the negative impact of a Hard Check on Customers for a short term product where they are alternative method. ‘Treating Customer Fair - TCF’
