Hi @Natalie W @Daz_S

To Summarise:

  • different phone, different card (provider) with WiFi calling on and connected to my router = works (this excludes router issues with different provider)
  • Different phone with ID mobile card and WiFi calling on  and my router = does not work (this exclude phone issues)
  • My phone / any other phone,  with iD card connected to my router = not working
  • My phone / any other phone,  with iD card connected to different router (workplace) = not working

It’s a combinations with ID mobile with my home router. I will double a check tomorrow again when connected to my work router.

I have not done the factory reset of the router  because I don’t want to do that just now. I have security cameras and all the stuff that goes with it.

The only things I’ve done to the  router was something to do with creating a mesh network, don’t recall details (to install security cameras) but it was a long time ago, and WiFi calling worked for months after that.

Regards

Silvia

In regards to your last post something has changed, because you previously wrote this

It seems that when I connect to a different router, Iam able to make calls.

And now you’re saying your phone doesn’t work on another router

If your phone and any other phone is in airplane mode (with just the wifi calling and wifi enabled) then I would expect all phones to work on wifi calling. And I really am struggling to come up with a logical answer as to why they don’t. Are any of these phones using the 3UK network? As you should know there is ongoing work at your postcode and in doing what I’ve just mentioned it should overcome this known network issue - currently your postcode shows this

We're fixing an issue in this area at the moment and aim to have things back up-and-running as soon as possible.

We're sorry for any disruption this may cause and will add any further updates here.

I agree, this means other phones on other networks work as expected

Does this phone also not have VoLTE, I recall your iPhone 12 Pro Max doesn’t and I’m not sure why yours doesn’t have this option. It should have been via Settings → Cellular →  Cellular data options → enable LTE → confirm voice and data are selected. If you see data only then VoLTE isn’t supported and could be a SIM issue, but you’re already on your 2nd SIM, hence why I’m struggling to find a reason.

That’s what is also confusing things. Is this still with your SIM or other customers SIMs? Are any of these phones on the Three network?

As above - initially you said it was working on another network. So as long as you’re in airplane mode wifi calling should have worked.

I’ve been thinking whilst compiling this post. And apart from the lack of VoLTE on your phone and the current network fault I’m at a loss as to why it is only iD Mobile. And like you said this only started during that nationwide outage - so is this somehow an account issue?

I totally understand why you’ve not done this. Our house is like Fort Knox too.

I’d be surprised if the mesh had anything to do with this.

And yes if the cameras are all working fine then best leave them alone.

(I am sorry for the long reply)

Hi,

thank you for the help.

Ive done so many things that I am losing my mind 😅

it was a typo, my phone works when on airplane mode and WiFi calling ON and connected to my work router.

The only time my phone does not work is at home with WiFi calling ON . I need WiFi calling on due to lack of service in my area. I’ve also put on airplane mode to force WiFi calling, not working.

I’ve tried with another person phone, connected to my router but not id mobile (Vodafone) , airplane  mode ON to force WiFi calling and it works!

The issue it’s just ID mobile in my house.

regards

silvia

Honestly its not a problem, I do try as best as I can

I know that feeling too well. You should see some of my other rambling replies elsewhere on these forums!

That is significant then. By you toggling airplane mode on you’ve taken the iD signal out of the equation. And therefore IMO if the same can’t be done with airplane mode off then this is either a signal strength issue* and/or a SIM issue** and/or a phone issue*** and/or although I’d be surprised an account issue****

*even with the phone set as it would normally be in your case - airplane off, wifi calling and wifi enabled if the mobile phone signal drops off this can and does cause the wifi call to fail - ask me how I know🙄

** although you’re already on SIM number 2, having a faulty SIM (more so on iD) seems to be a ‘thing’. Without reading back through this I’m assuming the iD SIM is in SIM slot1 on the phone. Also have you thought about an eSIM?

*** I’m not overly familiar with iPhones, but I’m assuming yours is a UK model?

**** being as this all only ever started since the nationwide outage on the 24-25 January, I did think that was that outage actually 3UK carrying out a final flush of incompatible phones - I’m never likely to prove that and I am aware of a few others whom also can’t get their wifi calling working now and IIRC most if not all are iPhones. So I’m now wondering if the account configuration has been messed up - the wifi calling is provisioned by the SIM and there were many reports of WiFi calling failing during that 4G blackout, which interestingly didn’t affect 3G calls (as I made a few tweaks during that outage and had my phone working on 3G calls without any issue).

As above, but something isn’t right there as most of us whom use wifi calling are only doing so due to the dire signal strength - which for my area has only became worse since the big 3G switch-off. That tweak should have overcome your issue, but in your case it still doesn’t work.

I know its a pain, but have you tried a network reset since using the replacement SIM?

The issue it’s just ID mobile in my house.

If you recall, when you activated the replacement iD SIM, did the phone automagically have Wi-Fi calling enabled or did you have to manually turn it back on via the phones settings?

FWIW it should have been enabled by default as the provisioning comes after the SIM has ‘shaken hands’ with the iD service.

The same should happen with a network reset, if you turn off wifi calling and then reset the network it should come back on via the phones settings and obviously should work as soon as you reconnect to your router.

Hi,

It is posible that ID Mobile have blocked your IP Address for some reason?

how do I check that?

Hi @Ssantos

Setting your phone to airplane mode with Wi-Fi still on should force it to go to Wi-Fi calling, what happens when you do this and try to make a call?
