I have the same problem. when I call it shows the number correctly, when I send an SMS it shows a number that does not exist, does not exist. I have done all the steps you described and nothing changes. This is the first time I have something like this. The number has been transferred for 10 years and this is the first time I have a problem with you. Can I count on specific help?
I didn't reset the network because it wasn't in the description (I think) but if it helps, why not. I confirm the new number, verification and .... it still shows the number that no longer exists.
If you open your Messaging app and click Settings > Chat Features does it show the correct number? If it shows the incorrect one, then head to: https://messages.google.com/disable-chat and you should be able to de-register the number. Once done, turn off the Chat Features and the phone.
Wait a few minutes and turn the device back on and re-enable Chat Features it should let you re-register/update to the correct number.
Yyou see step by step what I do and nothing. there should be number 000 but it is still 578. changed everywhere, only one number in Google account, nothing helps. Do you have any solution?

Its under the sub heading learn more
As a last resort, you can perform a Network Settings Reset on your phone. Here’s how to do it:
Hide contentLearn more
Learn more
Which when you tap on learn more it opens this menu
Open ‘Settings’.
Tap ‘General management’.
Tap ‘Reset’.
Select ‘Reset Network Settings’.
Please note: Resetting network settings will erase saved Wi-Fi networks and VPN settings. After the reset, you will need to re-enter Wi-Fi passwords and configure any other network settings as needed.
I’ve personally carried out a network reset on my Samsung phone and although some of the warnings can put you off it really isn’t as bad as it sounds - things like Bluetooth devices, ALL saved WiFi passwords but the latter would be simply enough to reconnect to when you’re back in range.

For the RCS did you read this on the above link and if so did this not fix the issue?
If Google Messages doesn't show the number you're expecting please try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Open Messages.
Tap ‘More Options’.
Tap ‘Settings’.
Tap ‘RCS chats’.
Turn off RCS chats.
Alternatively, use the Google Messages deactivation web portal to turn off RCS chats.
Restart your phone.
Re-enable Google Chat by following the same steps as step 1 but toggling "Chat Features" to "On".
If this doesn’t work, try clearing the cache for both Google Play Services and Google Play Store. Here’s how to do it:
I did all that and it doesn't help, the number is still displayed, the one that shouldn't. I just turned off rcs and it shows correctly. thanks. but that's not the solution. poorly..
But with RCS off restart the phone and then turn RCS back on - does the wrong number show again?
Or with RCS off, restart the phone BUT leave RCS off for 24 hours, then turn it back on, does the wrong number still come back?
This entire issue can be caused when you put a SIM in too soon, rather than waiting for your previous network to fully close, as the provisional number allocated by iD would be retained on the phone. As RCS then remembers this provisional number after the port completes your original number doesn’t automatically update immediately. But many others across many networks have the same issue.
I inserted the sim card when I couldn't make a call from the "old" card-network. I'll try to do what you advise with rcs and let you know tomorrow. by the way, if others also have this problem, why doesn't id try to fix it?? There would be less writing😁
Thanks for clarifying you waited for the previous network to stop working before inserting the iD Mobile SIM. Therefore you didn’t create this common problem of inserting the SIM too soon.
Though something else can occur (that we can’t control) and that is on the day your number is due to port over to iDM it can actually take iDM up until 10pm on that day, so you can still inadvertently pop their SIM in too soon whereby the phone retains their provisional number, hence the problem you have as RCS sees this number.
Hopefully either of the above RCS suggestions finally solve your phone number issue🤞
Why don’t they fix it, being as it does happen with other providers maybe they can’t find a way to stop this happening - IDK
unfortunately the problem is not solved. after turning on rcs text messages are delivered from a number that should not be there anymore. after turning off rcs it goes back to normal. so it will remain off. overall i have been with id for 3 days and i already have a problem with the number and a serious problem with the inability to receive and make calls for a good few hours on 23/01/25. not very impressive for 3 days with id.
I’ve never used RCS myself (personal preference) but it really does look like the RCS side of things is remembering the wrong number. At this present time I’m not sure what else you could try.
For the calling aspect, there was a nationwide outage affecting 3UK and thus iD Mobile from around 2pm yesterday and at this present time it’s still not fully resolved. You can keep an eye on this service announcement if you want to know when its fully resolved

it doesn't matter if someone uses rsc or not - if I transfer a number to id and pay for its use, the one I'm paying for should be visible, regardless of what service I enable, isn't that how it's supposed to look?
I know. I’ve never used RCS and have never had an issue with my phone giving out the wrong number when texting in over 30 years of owning a mobile phone.
Whereas you use RCS and are clearly having issues with a Google owned product. The advice I’ve offered thus far should have fixed this problem.

It is, when you don’t use a Google owned product. Therefore the Google RCS server has probably not updated itself to show your correct number - although I have no desire for RCS I did just do a quick Google search and apparently if you do nothing then in some cases the Google server updates itself every 8 days and (without the owner doing anything) the correct number appears to automatically updated when google realises you’re not using the temporary number.

Yes it is. But RCS has nothing to do with iD Mobile. RCS is owned and operated by Google. This wrong number issue when using RCS is not happening with iD mobile customers, it happens worldwide.
As a last resort you could try a replacement iDM SIM. You would then need to activate it. I would suggest after activation you wait until the old SIM shows no service. Then wait another hour or so before swapping the SIMs over.
Anyway, I hope somebody else can offer a solution as I really don’t have anything more to suggest.
