My wife has recently moved to Id and ported her phone number, but when I recieve txts from her it shows the original sim number before the port. I've looked through the FAQ'S and the answers provided, going to settings etc... don't work as the instructions don't match what is on the screen.

Okay @Matt O, sounds like the Google RCS servers registered her device as being linked to the initial number from iD, and haven’t registered the fact she’s now using the ported-in number with the phone.

A quick fix is to simply stop using RCS chat features on her new Galaxy phone. The Google Assistant on her phone should be able to help with turning off chat features in the Google Messages app.

Another possibly is the mobile number in the Google Account your wife uses with her phone, could be incorrect. You can check this online, if you Sign In with the same account, at https://www.google.com

Hi there @Matt O

What’s the make and model of the phone? - One of us may have the same phone and can guide you to the right bit.

Also, if you’ve followed the instructions and discovered they don’t relate to your phone, which bit are you stuck at? - this might help get to a quicker answer if one of us has the same phone.

Other things to try is :

  • pop the phone into flight/airplane mode for about 1 minute, then switch that off
  • to eject the SIM, switch the phone completely off, switch it back on and allow it to boot up (ignore the no network message) and then reinsert the SIM back in.

Others may offer better advice/suggestions.

Thanks to all, I've switched the RCS off and switched to the Samsung message app and this seems to have sorted it.
