The cost of using RCS comes out of the data allowance of your iD plan, @derrickw.
RCS requires a network connection, by using a Wi-Fi network, or the iD mobile data network. There’s no extra charge for the image as such.
FYI, the iD Mobile MMS can’t send any images larger than ~384KB.

Youre wrong that was not the correct answer
Also why is the default charge cap is £75 if was 0 my message wouldnt have gone and I would have use WhatsApp.
Ive set the cap to £0, so I won't get caught out again!
I do not trust ID RCS messages now.
Regards
Ken
Hi @Kenw
The above is in-fact correct, if you were charged 55p for an RCS MMS message, it was not an RCS message, that’s what we charge for MMS over our texting network.
RCS would go outside of our own SMS system (Similar to that of iMessage, WhatsApp, Messenger etc).
Tom
No your reply is not accepted.
My reply is why did I have GB£75 cap , if it had been £0 the message should not have gone!
iD set the CAP do they are at fault! And always be as far I'm concerned.
This another example of ID not being truthful, the other is not telling customers that when connected to a WiFi network the mobile data is limited. This is per Ofcom coverage checker contrary to ID/3 checker

Hi @Kenw,
Thanks for getting back to us.
If you didn’t select a cap when purchasing your cap would go to the highest amount of £75.
Please let us know if you would like us to check your cap and when it changed.

My current bill is showing at £10 more than I am contracted to pay how can I see what extra charges are being billed.
Hi @Michael Nesbitt
You’ll be able to use the iD Mobile app once registered/logged in to see bills and charges.
Tom
That doesn't answer my question. I want to monitor my billing in real time as I could with other providers.
Hi @Michael Nesbitt
The app is updated however not in real time, it may take a few minutes or longer for usage you’ve made to show on the app itself.
Tom
Hi Tom
I cannot find this option on my app. Can you outline how to find it. Cheers
Hi @Michael Nesbitt
Usage is found on the home page on the app, as soon as you log in the first page.
Tom
Remaining usage is not the issue. I want to see what costs I am running up Before the bill is issued. I could do this on previous networks but not it seems with ID
Hi @Michael Nesbitt, if you run up any extra charges, you’ll receive a text message in advance advising you on this.
Your invoice is also generated 14-days before payment is due and you’ll be able to view a bill breakdown via the iD app or your account online.

Found a setting in Google messages that if your recipient can't receive RCS it tends as SMS unless turned off.
Not helped by Samsung deprecating RCS in its own messaging app and pointing people to use Google

I have group messages using mms disabled, instead send individual texts also auto download MMS is disabled.
I have 2 Sims now, ID esim for data only and Lebara (Vodafone) for calls and texts, I'm contemplating paying up iD (3) to ditch.
Thanks for your response.
Samsung I believe now use Google rcs

Samsung WERE using it for the default app on galaxy devices but not any more. Check now (and see the news article). I found this thread after recieving an MMS for first time in a decade...
I don't have a Samsung, so their change to Google messages doesn't affect me, I'm a pixel owner also I don't have RCS enabled.
The article states
The irony has continued for Google, with the news that Samsung is ditching RCS for millions of its Galaxy users still using Samsung Messages and recommending they switch to Google Messages. The Galaxy maker warned Verizon users that “Samsung Messages will no longer support RCS after 1.6.2025. Switch to Google Messages to maintain the more robust messaging you're used to.”
Hi @Kenw,
Thanks for the update.
We’ll keep that in mind for any future queries.
