I was charged £45 when I went from Plymouth to Roscoff on the the ferry overnight i didn’t even use my phone I was asleep and woke up to a text say i have used up my Data cap and will be charged £45 on my next bill how can you justify that ?

If your phone wasn’t in flight mode on the ferry, probably used mobile data in the background via the ferry operators satellite based mobile network.

Mobile data is charged at £9.60/MB in these situations, so would not take long to reach your bill cap, @Gerald L Page.

Hi @Gerald L Page

I’d say the same as @andewhite has said above, if you connect to a satellite network while on a ferry, you would be charged for usage.

The best way to avoid something like this is to set your bill cap to £0 (or an amount you’re comfortable going over).

Yes it would as you wouldn’t be unable to connect to the ferry’s satellite network.
