Hi - i recently advised Carphone Warehouse that i wished to cancel my contract within the cooling off period due to poor coverage (couldn’t make calls or texts outside of home other than Wfi calls).

 

I have since returned the phone via DPD and received notification that it has been received (return to be formally processed i believe).

 

in the meantime i ported my number but have now received a final bill from ID Mobile showing £900 or early termination charges - will a revised bill be issued once Currys process my return and update ID Mobile? Surely there cannot be early termination charges if i give notice to Carphone Warehouse within my cooling off period? ID Mobile Live Chat also confirmed i was within my cooling off period too, so a little confused.

Can you please confirm if you ported your number out to a new provider prior to returning the handset?

Hi, thanks for coming back to me.

 

i did port my number before the handset was returned - however i have since had confirmation that the handset is back with Currys but no amended final bill has been received.

Hey there ​@Fawcey, ah okay, that’ll be why.

 

For the return process to be completed correctly, you need to await the device to reach our warehouse, and await notification that your return is completed, before porting out.

 

Therefore, as you ported out beforehand, our system doesn’t change the fee automatically. Therefore, please contact our live-chat to look into this further and request to waiver the fee for you:

Unfortunately ​@Fawcey, porting your number (using a PAC) in the cooling-off period is treated as notice of cancellation of your iD contract.

A returns number is needed to cancel your order within the cooling-off period. 

When you got the PAC from iD Mobile, you should’ve been advised of any early termination charges.
