Since ive started my contract with ID I get emails from them constantly about stuff i have no interest in and I cant seem to find any settings to stop that. I dont need emails to show me how to check data usage or what perks I get with my contract. Is there a way to just stop all emails from them?

Thank you

    Hi @MattAlexKaye,

    Thanks for your reply.

If you've already unticked Email in your communication preferences and are still receiving emails, it's worth noting that some communications are sent to all customers to keep them informed about their plan, account or available services. These aren't always classed as marketing communications, so they may still be sent even when marketing preferences have been updated.

The types of emails you've described, such as tips and information about managing your plan, fall into this category and can't be unsubscribed from through communication preferences.

If you'd like this reviewed further, we'd recommend contacting our Customer Service Team via Live Chat, who can escalate your concerns: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

We appreciate your feedback and understand your frustration in receiving emails that you don't feel are relevant to you.

    Hi @MattAlexKaye,

    Thanks for your feedback.

If you'd like to stop receiving marketing communications, you can manage your preferences by following the steps in the guide below:

It's worth noting that there are different types of communications. While you can opt out of marketing communications, we'll still send service-related communications where necessary, such as important account, billing or service updates.

The guide above explains how to review and update your communication preferences so that you only receive the communications you're happy to receive.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,

@Gemma M that wasn’t helpful. I checked and Email is already unticked, but I’m still receiving nonsense newsletters with advice like “Stay in control of your plan” and really generic obvious advice. That’s not a useful service message/transactional email, it’s junk. I’ve opted report it as a nuisance email to ICO. If you have a way to actually unsubscribe from these emails do let me know

@Gemma M as I’ve said, Tips and Information that aren’t transactional emails you’re required to send (e.g. billing updates/charges) shouldn’t be impossible to subscribe from, that’s ridiculous. Anyway it doesn’t sound like you plan to help with it, fingers crossed ICO will do something

Also beware of raising this as a complaint to ID mobile, customer service are useless and keep trying to walk you through fake unsubscribe options that aren’t available for these sorts of emails

Just joined ID Mobile too, I am sick of all of this spam. I specifically asked them NOT to contact me.

The original reps answer: “When you first join us, we do send more emails to help customers...” is embarrassing. The other reps only replying via DMs only is also gross, it looks like you are trying to hide information.

ID Mobile claim these are ‘Service’ emails, not marketing. So they don’t need to give you an unsubscribe button. The ICO will not look at this, as service emails do not count as GDPR violations.

The only way to deal with this is to block all ID mobile emails. Awful way to do business.
