Keeping number but transferring ownership of account

I'm trying to hand over responsibility for paying a PAYG SIM only contract to my eldest who is now 18. They want to keep their number. It seems impossible. It won't let us just change the bank details. How do we start a new contract but port the number across? We applied for a PAC code but the switching process won't let us do it from iD to iD

Hey there @Kelly Lowthorpe, unfortunately, you cannot change the name on a contract with ourselves. If he wanted his own contract, he’d need to take one out himself via his own details and name.

You cannot directly transfer your phone number from one iD Mobile contract to another I’m afraid.

Thank you,

Tyler

Maybe give-up on iD, use the PAC and switch to another service provider, @Kelly Lowthorpe

It might be less hassle.

Like iD Mobile, SMARTY also use the Three UK mobile network, so they might be one option.

Hey @Tyler, is an iD Mobile PAYG SIM-only account the same as a credit checked iD Mobile pay monthly account?

I’d always thought they were different - i.e. you’re allowed a PAYG account, without needing a credit check or signing a contract.

Thank you.

Hmm, I don't know if it's credit checked or not. All I know is that it's a rolling monthly contract so I can stop at any time. That's what I meant by PAYG. I'm not tied in for 12 months or anything

Hi @Kelly Lowthorpe & @andewhite

No, a PAYG plan would not require a credit check like a PAYM contracted plan would, however all plans would still fall under being unable to change the account holder to another person.

If you’re on a PAYM, this is still a contract and would be credit checked at the point of purchase.
