@boothy99 @andewhite just out of interest, I did try Gemini; however, when I asked it to open the WiFi calling options, it said it could not do that, and instead, it just told me where to find it in settings manually, which of course we know would not have given me the preferences sub-menu. In fairness, there was a warning that although Google Assistant is still helping in the background, it does not have full functionality when Gemini is the primary assistant; I switched back to Google Assistant in the app and the ability to access the sub-menu returned.

Bumping this thread - is it worth speaking to ID again about this? Really annoying as I had this option on O2 - I wouldn’t be bothered about this problem if ID actually had good signal but considering how bad ID signal is indoors, this non-existent option is highly valuable

This is the solution i found from an online forum - if this is what ID mobile would prefer us to do to enable a feature that they market then so be it:

I managed to forcibly add the Calling preference option to the Wi-Fi Calling menu by using the Pixel IMS app with the help of the Shizuku app (requires using ADB via USB debugging, but it can also be used via wireless debugging). The Pixel IMS setting I had to enable was at SIM Config => Cosmetic Toggles => Show VoWiFi preference in Settings.

The then-appeared Calling preference option submenu in the Android SIM settings Wi-Fi Calling menu showed the selected option value Call over mobile network / If mobile network is unavailable, use Wi-Fi. So I changed it to WLAN preferred and Wi-Fi calling just works fine now! :-)

@soulbroth3r 👋

Regarding speaking to iD again ... it's certainly worth a try.

I'd tried the Pixel IMS app + Shizuku app method in the past on my Pixel 6, but with no luck. I might try it again if you've got it working 😊

(Private message to iD just sent).

Really appreciate the efforts but Im skeptical that iD will ever fix this (its such a nice issue that out of the minority of folks that recognise wifi calling, only a small % will realise its defaulting to network and then actually follow up with iD). I think a more pragmatic approach that i’ll try out would be to set up something like Tasker to automatically turn off internet data when there’s an incoming/outgoing call, if im connected to a wifi network. Will let you folks know how that goes.

@soulbroth3r

There might be a problem with turning off data when a call actually comes in as it takes a number of seconds for VoWiFi to kick in on my Pixel 6 (at least when I turn airplane mode on). The call might get disconnected ? Worth trying though 👍
