I ported my old number about 2 weeks ago and have had issues sending text messages as I get an error message. I’ve restarted the phone and taken the sim out and put it back in but to no avail.
also, I can’t change my number on the iPhone to reflect my old number - it only shows my new number and does not let me save my old number when I try to change it.

Welcome to the Community!
We would advise that you try the below and hopefully that should work.
1) Turn off iMessage (Settings > Messages)
2) Restart your phone (by pressing and holding the on/off button)
3) Tap Settings > Phone > My Number and confirm that it is correct.
4) If it is not correct, please enter the correct number
5) Turn iMessage back to On (Settings > Messages)
6) Finally, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and see if the correct number is displayed under “Start new conversations from:”.
You may need to reset your network settings if step 4 doesn’t work.
