How do I cancel my id contract for free to transfer to a social tarrif provider?  I keep going round in circles on id’s website.

You cannot leave penalty free if you are still within your contractual minimum term. That’s not how the social tariffs work!

Not all telecoms companies or ISP’s offer them. Those that do have strict requirements and even then, you cannot always switch to one.

If you are not within a minimum term then you can simply port out. You will receive a final bill but there won’t be any early termination fee.

If you’re not within the minimum term of a 12-month, or 24-month iD contract, you’ve got several options, @ChattyPerson:

  1. If you want to keep your mobile number, get a PAC from iD by sending text “PAC” to 65075. Give the PAC to your social tariff service provider, and you iD account is closed the day after you switch.
  2. If you DON’T want to keep your mobile number, get a STAC from iD by sending text “STAC” to 75075. Give the STAC to your social tariff service provider. Your iD account is closed once the new provider processes your STAC.
  3. Speak to an customer adviser using the iD Mobile Live Chat service, to leave by giving 30-days notice of termination.

Thank you. I am still in my contract but I read on Ofcoms website that some companies that don’t offer the social tarrif don’t charge the remaining contract if u need to leave for this tarrif. I have used iD’s chatbox but my response was just that they don’t offer this tarrif & if u leave within contract u have to pay. This isn’t what I asked them.

Although not on the OFCOM list, I believe SMARTY Mobile offer a social tariff plan for their mobile networks.

Yes they do. £12 a month for unlimited calls, texts and data. 👌🏻
