I have just upgraded today , I don't have my new phone yet . But received the new esim email . All good, except I am still using my old phone and now it says emergency calls only ... Surely I should be able to continue using my old phone until I actually get the new phone and activate the esim ( which I haven't, as it says it can only be used on the phone it is needed for !) anyone had a similar experience?

As it will prob be Tuesday before I get my new phone it means I can't phone anyone till I get my new phone ?

Hi there @Iainstr

iDM had to up their internal security due to eSIM fraud and the knock-on effect is any issued eSIM now stops the current SIM from working as soon as the email is processed and sent containing the QR code.

You should, if your old phone accepts an eSIM, be able to download (on that phone) and install the eSIM and then when the new phone arrives request another eSIM for that phone - a faff yes, but is probably the best workaround.

I understand you wrote it can only be installed on the device you need it for, but it’ll work on your current phone
