Going abroad for holiday. Can I use a different SIM if my contract has not ended

Hi all,

I'm going to go on holiday to Japan, and was planning to get use a new SIM while I was there. I've got a contract phone and was wondering if I would be breaking my contract by replacing and using another SIM before my contract ended.

That’s allowed @dineshan96 - but you’ll need to continue paying your iD contract, while using a local SIM card in Japan.

Your handset might even be dual-SIM capable, meaning you can use two SIM cards at the same time.

    Hi @dineshan96 

     

    As @andewhite suggests above, you’ll not be breaking your contract at all, it will however continue as normal and be billed as such. You’ll be able to take the iD Mobile SIM card out of your device and put in another one no problem.

    When putting in the new SIM is it likely you’ll need to unlock your phone? I’m going to Canada and want to do the same!

    Welcome to the Community!

    It’s likely that your handset is unlocked.

    What’s the make and model of your handset?

    You can always test to see if it’s unlocked by testing a different network SIM in the handset.
