How soon after downloading eSIM should I be abke to receive calls and texts and imessage to be actuvated?

After transferring my old number to ID on Dec 30th 24 I was unable to receive calls or texts.  Changed to an eSIM this evening and downloaded. Had confirmation text 40 mins ago to say it had been activated. I’m still unable to receive calls and texts and my number under the iMessage setting has a rotating circle next to it.
is this normal please?
It’s a brand new iPhone 14 fully up to date with software.

Do also make sure you’ve removed the ‘old’ iD physical SIM from your iPhone 14, @TraceyGannon

Maybe ask the iD advisers to check the status of your eSIM activation.

Hey there @TraceyGannon, we’re very sorry to hear that.

Have you tried restarting your phone?

If you’re having issues with your eSIM, then we’d recommend contacting our live-chat to investigate further, or possibly send a new eSIM:

Thanks,

Yes, I did that and various other things while I was on live chat with them.  I’m now waiting for a new physical sim to arrive, so fingers crossed that works.  Thank you.
