Question

How to get a replacement eSim without having a working sim tray?

I have been until now using a physical sim but recently my sim tray broke. I spoke to ID in live chat to get them to send me an email so I can use and eSim instead, but they said they needed me to receive a text before they send the email. How am I supposed to receive a text if my sim tray isn’t working, I don’t have any other phone I can put my sim in?

It seems like a oversight to me since a sim tray is a component on a phone that can break like any other, and there are plenty of other ways besides a text of verifying my identity to avoid fraud. Does anyone know how I can get an eSim emailed to me in this situation?

Hey there @Simbebe, thank you for reaching out. Due to recent developments in eSIM fraud, we’ve had to put in extra protection to avoid this from happening, and to protect our customers.

Therefore, if you wish to receive an eSIM, although it may be a pain, you’ll need to receive a physical replacement SIM card from us first, so you can retrieve the one-time password from us, so we can ensure we’re talking directly to the customers.

Our customers protection is at the upmost priority to use as a network, so although this may seem like a weird way of dealing with things, we are only doing so to protect you, as a customer.

If you wish to swap to eSIM, please request a physical SIM first via our live-chat or going to Currys.

Thanks,

Tyler

Thanks for replying Tyler,

Unfortunately I don’t think that’s of any use. It’s the sim tray rather than the sim itself that isn’t working.

Hey there @Simbebe ah okay, my sincere apologies for the confusion there.

If so, that would be classed as the phone being faulty, or possibly needing to replace the SIM tray.

Where did you purchase the phone, and when please?

Thanks,

Tyler
