when I ask for a resend of security code, I’m told to wait 2 minutes since my last security pin sms but I’ve not tried this in more than 24 hours. Waiting more than 2 minutes and I still get the same reply.

Yeah, had similar issue when I joined sometime ago.
I just kept trying once or twice a day, for several days and was eventually successful.
