Old Number still active?

Hi. When I text someone it is showing the number contained on my SIM rather then the number I brought over with a PAC which is active and working fine. If I call it shows the correct ported number. This is creating confusion for those receiving my messages, can you help?

Okay @Ben Stuart, if you’ve used the Pixel 7 and iD SIM card (supplied when you joined iD Mobile) before switching your number, it sounds like Google hasn’t detected the number registered for RCS, via the Messages app on your Pixel, has been changed.

Have you tried the following?

  1. Turn OFF RCS chats (“Chat features”) in the Google Messages app.
  2. Turn OFF the Pixel handset and carefully remove the iD SIM card.
  3. Check SIM card is clean and undamaged, before re-inserting the iD SIM card.
  4. Turn ON the handset.
  5. Turn ON RCS chats.

Hey @Ben Stuart, what make and model handset are you using with your iD SIM card?

Have you tried a NETWORK RESET, which will often fix this issue.
The procedure for doing this is usually covered in the handset user guide.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I tried resetting the network settings but that didn't work. My phone is a Pixel 7.

Hey there @Rob Senior, please try the following:

1) Turn off iMessage (Settings > Messages)
2) Restart your phone (by pressing and holding the on/off button)
3) Tap Settings > Phone > My Number and confirm that it is correct.
4) If it is not correct, please enter the correct number
5) Turn iMessage back to On (Settings > Messages)
6) Finally, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and see if the correct number is displayed under "Start new conversations from:"

If you are having issues with step 4 please reset network settings and try again.

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi @Mty2608,

Please can you restart the handset and reset your network settings and try again?
