I received an anonymous call this morning, and I did not know who had called, so I redialled this number.I got a recorded message in an American accent and hung up straight away. I have received a message saying calling abroad is not covered by my plan and would cost. I have no idea how much this will be. How can I tell if a mobile number is calling from abroad? Not very happy if I am charged for this call. Any advice?

UK mobile numbers start with 07.
If you receive a call from abroad it would usually come up with the country code before the number.

Thanks Kash that was very helpful. Another question I have is that the mobile number I return called started 07 but I have been charged 40p. Is this correct?

i was in UK when I returned call. I have since found out the number is most probably a mobile phone user in Jersey.

If the number in question was in Jersey that would add up, calls from the UK to Jersey cost 40p.
