Personal hotspot dropping out

 I use a personal hotspot on my iPhone 7 to get online with my wifi-only iPad mini 4. The personal hotspot keeps dropping out on my phone. I’ve been monitoring it and it’s only occasionally due to lack of mobile service.I want know why it’s failing the rest of the time.  I’ve repeatedly followed the advice on Apple’s page, and their next suggestion is to check with your carrier. But it seems to me that if the hotspot works at all, the issue isn’t ID mobile, because surely they either allow hotspots or they don’t. Is that right?

I’m sorry to hear about this issue! Yes, you are right in saying that it should work as we do not block tethering services from working however we don’t offer official support for the feature so we wouldn’t be able to see why this issue is happening.

If the connection is dropping out then this may be due to a lack of signal.
