phone cutting out?

Why does my phone cut out for no reason? 
I am in a good signal area with 4 bars reception? 
I used to be on Vodafone and it never dropped a call? 
I live in the middle of Bristol! 
any help greatly received. 
 

I have turned the phone off and on again.
