@Richard.C what would the graphic look like if a member upgrades on either their billing start date or billing end date? Would that potentially reduce the Pro Rata Billing amounts substantially?
My question: is it best for a member to upgrade on their billing start date or end date to reduce confusing Pro Rata Billing?
Apart from that it looks fantastic...
Hi @terrywebbs
The date range in the graphic is just an example, all customers billing dates are different and there isn’t a ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ day within your billing cycle to upgrade as there will always be the two amounts (old plan and new plan) that make up the total price along with the next months price in advance.
I wouldn’t suggest talking about planning an upgrade to align to a billing date as this may add further confusion to customers.
Glad you like it though! It would be great if you could help come up with a jazzier name for this though as Pro Rata is a bit too formal…
Cheers,
Rich
@Richard.C some terms that may be of help:
proportional billing
proportionate billing cycle
part billing cycle
balanced bill cycle
partial billing
roll over bill
rolling cycle
Hey @Richard.C
To be honest for you "Pro Rata" system was always confusing for me so I just decided to trust iD Mobile work their magic with the math and not to worry about it. To my understanding it would look like this:
£30 contract upgraded to £40 contract. In your example it means that old one will be cut in half and new one stay the same which means I would need to pay £55 as my next bill.
Or
£30 cut in half then £40 cut in half and next bill is £35?
Which one is correct?
It indeed does look fantastic, very simple and informative. I am just confused with the math behind it
Also a question, is it always that next bill will be higher after the upgrade or that will depend what contract you upgrade to? Lets say if I am £30 but I will upgrade to £10 Sim only deals wouldn't it be £20 - £25 which is still lowet than my previous bill.
Kind Regards
Gregor
