Rest of world browsing has cropped up on my bill for August.  No idea what the term means and why it costs so much.  I was travelling to France/Belgium on the day the cost was incurred.  Never had to pay for use in Europe before.

Unfortunately @Jan Knight, if you used a ferry to get to and from Europe, and left your mobile turned on onboard the ferry you might have used the onboard mobile network. 

iD have a special category for roaming at sea, and it’s not cheap, because ferry and cruise operators often use their own phone network that’s operated via satellite. Connecting to a satellite network costs a lot more than connecting to a land-based network.
