SIM Card Not Working

My number is porting today (13/2/24) and I was disconnected from my old provider since 930am. The new iD mobile sim has said NO SIM in 3 different handsets. If i ring my number I get the option to leave a voicemail (not my old voicemail message) so I assume that the number has ported across. LIVE Chat say they cant help until after 6pm which is conveniently when they close for the day!

Before I get the usual check this and that etc.. I have turned the phone to airplane mode - that didn't work. Done 3 reboots and that hasn't worked either.

Any ideas or have i got a dodgy sim that needs to be replaced?

HELP! I need my phone for work as a hotspot!

That really sounds like your new iD SIM card is faulty or not activated, @Jo beckford

A replacement iD SIM card might solve the problem.

The iD Live Chat customer service is available until 8pm on weekdays. You can also contact iD support privately via Facebook Messenger, or an X DM.

FYI, nothing happens quickly or urgently in the iD community, @Jo beckford

@andewhite Thank you! I am seriously regretting my decision to switch to these muppets! I was with 3 before my last provider and I (stupidly) forgot just how horrendous this network is.

LIVE chat seemed to insinuate they would close at 6pm so I’ll be on the case if nothing is working by then.

Can i just go to Currys and get a replacement sim or do i need to get it sent via Royal Mail? I can see me not having a phone this week at all at this rate! 🤬

Yes @Jo beckford, Currys should be able to provide a replacement iD SIM card, which you’ll then need to activate online.

This forum article may help in this situation.

Hey there @Jo beckford, we’re really sorry to hear you’re having issues with your SIM card since joining us.

As kindly mentioned by @andewhite, it does seem that it could be a faulty SIM card. Therefore, you can collect one free of charge from any Currys store during opening hours, or we can have one posted out to you in 1-2 working days, the option would be yours.

Once you receive the new SIM, you can activate it via the link below:

https://my.idmobile.co.uk/ja/web/cpw/sim-swap

Once active, please place the new SIM in the phone, and then restart it in around an hours time from when you do so. If that doesn’t work, then please do get back in touch with us so we can investigate that further for you.

Thank you,

Tyler

How so I request a replacement sim?

My sim card is saying no signal. I can't even get the number off contacts. I have tried in two other phones amd it isn't working. I refuse to pay my bill if this isn't sorted. As I can't even use my phone properly

@Julie Brennan @Xiaoye Omega Jing,

Welcome to the Community!

It sounds like you need a replacement SIM card.

We can either send one out or you can collect a replacement from your local Curry’s store which is the quicker option.

Please let us know and we can PM you if required.

The most obvious things to ask @khanzada did you buy a new phone from iD Mobile?

If not, is your phone unlocked to all UK networks?

If it is unlocked are you in an area that doesn’t have 3G?

If you still have 3G what phone are you using?

Does the phone show iD as the network?

If you see iD as your network is your phone number showing as correct?

Without some more information from yourself I have no clue how to offer advice

Hi @khanzada

I’m sorry to hear that, you have no signal whatsoever using the iD Mobile SIM card?

Did you pick up your order from a Currys/Carphone Warehouse store?

If you have no signal at all, have you tried a replacement SIM, which you can obtain for free from a Currys store? If this is the case once you have this new replacement we can show you where to activate it.

Or are you saying you have a signal (that iD is showing as your network) but the number that came on the phone isn’t working or did you bring your phone number from your previous phone service provider and your existing number isn’t working?

Hi @khanzada

Okay, as @Daz_S suggests it may be worth trying a replacement SIM card in this case, you’ll be able to pick one up from your local Currys store and activate it here.

It will be free and when I go Curry’s what I need to say them regarding my SIM card and what discount I will get on my bill because it’s been more then 10 days now and can’t use my mobile because of my sim card isn’t working

Yes it will be free.

Just ask them (in Currys) for a replacement iD Mobile SIM.

Also tell them you’re already a customer .

Any discounts/compensation would need to be agreed and sorted between you and iD Mobile directly. They may not offer anything.
