Question

switch from PAYG to pay monthly

Hi ,

My son is on a pay as you go contract with is invalid until Nov 23.

Now if I get him a 24 month pay monthly contract, can I cancel the pay as you go contract without being charged the un used line rental.

Obviously I don't want 2 bills going out.

Hope this makes sense

Hi @Craig,
Welcome to the Community!

If you have a pay as you go SIM it should be valid until the top-up or bundle expires.

If it’s a SIM only contract that you are referring to, you would need to wait until you can upgrade or look at cancelling and paying a termination fee.

Hi @Craig

I’d double check this is an upgrade, if you’re on a Pay As You Go it may offer a SIM only deal but this would be a new plan with a new number, not an upgrade.

I joined a week ago on PAYG but have just spotted a 1 month sim only deal which would give me more data then the £6 PAYG bundle I joined with, I have a good credit rating so should sail through the check and was all ready to sign up today but I can’t although it looks as though you can go from Pay Monthly to PAYG with a few clicks so presumably both account types run on the same billing platform?

In 2023, seriously?

I can see the need for business logic being programmed in  to prevent s customer trying to bin off a contract by converting to PAYG, getting a PAC and disappearing but I thought getting customers to commit to a contract thus securing a guaranteed income from that customer was the goal of every MNO and MVNO

Got to wonder how many customers you might have lost by forcing them to port out and back in.

As I said, I was sold on the idea but if that’s really what I have to do, I’ll pass and wait until I’ve used my bundle and credit and see what’s available elsewhere.

Hi @IT-dude

Unfortunately you wouldn’t be able to switch from an existing PAYG plan to a PAYM plan, sorry.
