Hi,

I bought a new Samsung phone the other day (moving from vodafone to iD). I did the PAC code in store and have had a text saying that my number has been switched to iD mobile and my account with my previous provider has been disconnected.

The new phone is working and calls are showing up as coming from my old number (i.e. the one i wanted to keep). Texts to my old number come also come through to the new phone. However the texts (e.g. to my wife) are showing up as coming from the wrong phone number (the devices new number).

Can you help pls?

Okay @Ian Searle, this sometimes happens if you’ve used the iD SIM card, for your new network connection, before the number you wanted to keep was transferred to iD.

Google’s RCS servers registered your new handset, but failed to recognise the mobile number has subsequently changed.

The following steps often resolves this issue:

  1. Turn OFF RCS chats (“Chat features”) in the Google Messages app.
  2. Turn OFF your new handset and carefully remove the SIM card.
  3. Check the SIM card is clean and undamaged, before re-inserting your iD SIM card.
  4. Turn ON your new handset.
  5. Turn ON RCS chats (in the Google Messages).
