Unable to make calls!!


I switched to an ID Mobile eSIM 2 days ago for my iPhone 15 Pro and I am unable to make any calls.

I have received texts and I am able to use my data fine. I have tried restarting the phone, resetting network settings. I have tried different locations and have checked both ID and Three’s coverage checker which show there are no problem.

I have also tried using WiFi calling but this does not work either.

I have tried contacting support via Live Chat but they have only suggested what I have already tried.

I have noticed when I make a call I’ll have 3 or 4 bars of 4G. Then a few seconds into making the call the signal bars drop down to 1. Once I have finished the call, the bars of signal return to their original strength.

Any help please?

For some reason turning iMessage on and off in Settings managed to fix it! No idea why it worked, but I’ve now made and received several calls and it worked.

 

For clarity, for anyone else who has this problem on an iPhone, try:

 

Go to Settings → Messages - > toggle iMessage off and then on again.

It might be a fault with your new iPhone 15, @bl123 - what do Apple say? 

Maybe it’s a disadvantage of the eSIM - checking your iD SIM is provisioned correctly isn’t as straightforward as putting the SIM in another device.

Are you in the Midlands area, where Three UK (the iD network partner) have shutdown their 3G network? 

Some iD customers seems to be having mysterious network problems in this area.

I’m in the South West. I don’t think they’re shutting down the 3G here until October. I haven’t contacted Apple yet. I was previously with EE and everything worked fine.

I might try and install a new eSIM. I don’t live near a Currys and don’t want to have to wait for a physical SIM to be delivered.

Were you using an eSIM with your EE plan, @bl123

Also, odd the iD WiFi Calling service doesn’t work, as this relies on using a Wi-Fi network connection, not a mobile network connection. 

Perhaps your switch from EE to iD was not completed properly.

I'm having the exact same issue but on a Samsung s20.... has anyone had the same issues and knows how to fix?

Hi @Karina Irons,

Welcome to the Community!

Firstly I would advise checking that your network settings and reset your network settings.

I would also advise to check the below:

-Software up to date

-Try rebooting the phone

-Try manually connecting to an alternative network and then back to iD etc.

I have my ID sim now for 2 weeks and unfortunately  I'm not able to make any calls or receive  them I carnt afford a phone atm so wat co I Co

Hi

im having the same issue I’m able to receive calls data is also ok I’m also able to send messages and receive messages also I am able to receive calls but am unable to return calls help !!

I am having the same issues as above. 

I’ve been on ID mobile since January this year (8 months). All had been fine, using my iPhone 12pro.

I can send and receive SMS messages, Data works but CANNOT make or receive calls.

Service in the area is fine. 

Turning off and on iMessage makes no difference. 

I’ve turned off and on the phone, reset network settings. No difference. 

I have put the sim into another iPhone and the SIM does not work.

I have put the SIM into my Partners android device and the sim works fine. 

What on earth is happening? Can you (Customer service) please resolve this.

I have FIXED this problem. 

Settings > Phone > My number 

I noticed that my number was suddenly not listed. Enter your phone number and this will fix the issue!

ID Mobile customer service useless!

I tried everything and was convinced it was the physical alternate sim causing the issues. I hadn’t entered the number as I thought it was just trivial and my switch date is Monday, which means I would need to change it. However I added the ID number and was able to make calls. 

You would think it would say to do that. Doesn’t bode well 😒

Thank you!!! Adding my number has worked for me too…wish I had checked here earlier! ( iPhone  15 too!).

But this has also made me realise I cannot activate iMessage - it says “an error occurred during activation” does anyone have any suggestions?

Mine is connected to my email right now, but I didn’t have any issues. Restarted phone?

Have you tried a replacement SIM?

 

This can help in instances where iMessage won’t activate.
