Android - mainly for cost. A sub-£200 Android is fine for me.

Having recently been up north of Scotland with no signal on my android and family with iPhones not having any problems. Decided to opt for an iPhone for reliability which have experienced first hand as being more reliable

Apple. Because I have learned how to use them.

Android is my favourite platform you can do more with the platform compared to Apple. The iPhones are just too secure and you don't have as much choice as to how you use the phones. But if I'm honest, the camera and security levels of iPhones have been a lot better than Android over the past few years until Samsung released their s22 phones. Apple just seem to put more money into their camera and ease of use of the iPhone than Android phones do so they beat android in those ways. I've always preferred android because they are all round phones, you can just do more to them, like customize them or install an app that isn't on the play store. You can even change the launcher to one that suits you better. It just has more to it than Apple can provide because of their high level security.

Android for me.

I recently tried an iPhone, and there are advantages over Android, but the disadvantages outweighed them for me.

I prefer Android, I like not having to worry about having broken my phone every time it slips out of my hands

Android, Samsung. Use both but nothing better about the iPhone except maybe the camera but not worth the extortionate price

I love my iPhone, it’s so easy to use and connects easily to other devices. It’s expensive but worth the extra cost.

The answer in our house is they are both best. For my wife and daughter it is Apple all the way, they are on their 3rd each and the wife has an Apple phone from work.

Me, I an Android, had a number of brands but settled on Samsung, A70 at the moment, looking at an a%£ next. Simple user interfaces I can use, the camera isn’t as good as the Apple for user friendliess, I just ask the wife to take the photo.

Use Teams from work on it, it is great for me, and we are happy to be different. If I win (hah!) can I have the Apple for my daughter please:-)

Apple, without a doubt. Although the price appears to be higher, The fact that all the accessibility features built in are better than those you have to pay extra for with an Android.

From a hardware point of view, Android without a doubt. From a price point of view, again Android. However, from a software point of view, I don't think there is a winner because it's subjective. iOS will be best suited for some, android for others. Me, it's Android and yes, I have used both platforms.

Apple! I’ve stuck with iPhones for so many years, love their design and synchronisation with other Apple products. Ease of use and quality always make them a pleasure to use.

isn’t connectivity to do with the availability of masts locally and the network you use rather than the phone itself?

At the end of the day, it's really about personal choice.

I’ve been lucky enough to have loads of phones over the years but they’ve all been based on my personal choice and not peer pressure or flashy advertising.

iPhones are like Porsche’s, in the sense that only a few can afford them and they never change.  The iPhone has had the same shape and style for years, which is fine, but when you get a new model, you expect something different.  In most cases. these differences are announced with great fanfare and a “just one more thing moment” which whips up the Apple community into a frenzy and makes then start reaching for their wallets.  The more savvy will have already noted that certain Android phones have had these features for at least 2 years and have moved on to something better.  Apple is always playing catchup but they know there’s a loyal market out there. But then again, it’s an iPhone….you want one….

Android users are a different breed, as are the phones.  Whereas Apple started with a great phone for the time and the brilliant software that showed how touch screen phones should be done, Android started the hard way with wobbly phones and a not too appealing-to-the-eye OS, but this grew with the years and the phones got better and better to unleash the full potential of the Android OS.  Also, being open source, Android was worked on by techy fans and the Android community to hone and craft something special.  Now, I’m using a Motorola G 5G Plus with Android 11 installed, my previous phone was an iPhone 13, which I traded in once I realised that the i13 held nothing for me.

In all honesty, i’ve had a wide range of phones from Symbians (including the n-Gage) through to iphones, via Blackberrys, and I can honestly say, there was only one winner for me.

The Windows Phone.

No, no….hear me out

If you ever had a Windows phone, you remember how light it was, how quick it was and, most importantly, how good it felt.  My Lumia 640XL was a joy to use, hold and show off in public.  Most people laughed at me for having one, but it was one of those phones that genuinely felt special.  The demise of W10m was a sad day for me, but life goes on.

So, back to the case in hand: Android or iPhone?

Both have their flaws, both have security issues and both can be hideously overpriced, but again it’s down to personal choice as to which one you go for.

My personal choice is Android, simply because I don’t feel the need to tell everyone about how I queued all night to be the first to get an iPhone, or extol the virtues of the features of my phone while others smile and nod, knowing full well their phones had them first.  Goodness knows I’ll always have a soft spot for the iPhone, but my heart lies with Android.  Simply because it belongs to us.

I was Android and loved it - I could do a couple of things that my family (all iPhones) couldn’t, which amused me. But as I have other Apple products I drifted into iPhone when I changed and have found the interlinking between my product and between my family no me has made up for it. I think on balance I now prefer my iPhone.

Apple is better because the operating system is better. The device is generally more reliable. You turn it on - it comes on. You turn it off - it turns off. There’s no waiting around for things to update and you don’t get asked lots of tiresome questions like ‘Are you sure you want to …..?” after you’ve decided to change a setting for example. I now use only Apple phones combined with my Apple laptop - they work together seamlessly and I don’t have to mess about with settings to allow them to sync.

Android - does everything I need it to, and there is such an extensive variety to choose from.

Android Due to flexibility to customise the device to how you want to use it yourself. I don’t have to search through apps to find something I use daily, and can control my notifications the way I want. I also  have the ability to alter more ‘techie’ settings in the developer options to control speed and DPI of display. Basically, you can alter the device to be the best experience for yourself! I am however a newly converted die hard Mac fan, but on phone, android wins.

Android all the way! Easier to use for anyone, from teen-age to older age.

Why make things more complicated, life already is😉.

I am and have always gone with android.  Its much better and easy to use and updates regularly.  My daughter had an iPhone and constantly had issues with it. Then when it got a couple of years old, she couldn't use it, it couldn't get updates so most of her apps didn't work. Android all the way.

Apple’s integration of all it’s products from the ground up enables such ease of use from the Watch on your wrist reminding you of an appointment you set on your MacBook to the capture of training information relayed directly to the Health app on your iPhone is seamless. Being able to set Focus of work, personal, driving and sleep in one place and for it to then with ease flow to all other platforms. No other provide can do this because no other provider has that single focus across it’s product range in support of a wide ecosystem of supporting products, apps and services.

I have Homekit across my home to control lights and scenes, integrated weather and temperature sensors that let me know through the lights flashing colours what’s going in with conditions outside so I can prepare for wind, rain, ice or the cold.

I have more to do in terms of consolidating to Apple One and eliminating some costs of other providers for some productivity tools.

Ok, so not everything is perfect, but the philosophy and focus is there with the aim to achieve the best experience for me as user.

I am all in Apple.

For me this boils down to personal choice..

If you’re happy to pay a higher cost for ease of use, functionallity, design then go for Apple.

If you want to avoid higher costs and support ‘open’ systems then go for android.

Kind regards

Since 2008 I have only had Android phones and no intention of ever switching to Apple. Though my 9 year old daughter seems to think Apple is THE BEST THING in the world so she will likely use Apple phones one day.
