wifi calling - second hand phone and ex network

I’ve bought a PAYG sim card with iDmobile.

Now I’m looking for a second hand phone which will support wifi calling natively on iD. I’ve learned that iD runs on the Three network, so as I understand it: I can buy a handset that used to run on Three and it will have wifi calling enabled or possible to enable. Assuming that the handset is on iD’s compatible list. Correct me if I’m wrong.

My question is will this work with other ex networks? What situations will it work in and what situations won’t it work? For instance, if a handset is on both iD’s compatible list and another brand’s, will it work?

I suppose you will want to answer a specific question. Personally I think it would be helpful to have the above question answered for general information for other people. But the handsets I’m looking at currently are: Huawei P20 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S10e. I’ve already been to one local independent phone shop and tested my SIM card in a Huawei P20 Pro - wifi calling wasn’t available.

Hello @Frigoris,

Phones from our compatible list brought from iD Mobile will work with WiFi Calling.

For phones from other networks, this depends on many factors as to get it working. Some just work, others (based on the topics here) have required some work arounds etc.

Whilst we do use Three UK, that doesn’t guarantee that it’ll work.

TLDR: Will wifi calling work on a second hand phone which used to be on another network besides Three?

Create WiFi hotspot. Connect second hand mobile to WiFi hotspot.

Now dial number using WiFi calling.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately that doesn’t answer my question.
