wrong phone number on device info Iphone

I transferred my number from EE but was given a temporary number when I set my new phone up.

For some reason the temporary number is stored against the phone in device info meaning I get an irritating “message failed to send” message for every text sent although they do go through. I can’t simply just edit the number and it is driving me crazy!

Has anyone found a fix for this?

Perform a ‘Network Reset’ @Graham Cronshaw. How you do that depends on what device your using.

Hi @Graham Cronshaw,

Welcome to the Community!

As @WelshPaul mentioned please try a network reset, if that doesn’t fix the issue please let us know the handset make and mode so that we can guide you through other steps.

Hey there @Paul D 1971, please try the following:

1) Turn off iMessage (Settings > Messages)
2) Restart your phone (by pressing and holding the on/off button)
3) Tap Settings > Phone > My Number and confirm that it is correct.
4) If it is not correct, please enter the correct number
5) Turn iMessage back to On (Settings > Messages)
6) Finally, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and see if the correct number is displayed under "Start new conversations from:"

If you are having issues with step 4 please reset network settings and try again.

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Thanks,

Tyler
