0.08 mbps upload speed west London

Hi,

This is unusable, not even fit for a Whatsapp voice call or web browsing.

My problem is not the download, it’s the upload. When you use the Internet you constantly sending data, requests towards servers and so on. Voice calls need at least 0.3-0.5 mbps, video chat is quality dependent, but 2-3 mbps would be ideal BOTH WAYS. This is 0.08 .. 5G or 4G network, same..

West London mostly, but Central London is pretty much similar.

I’ve seen 6/0.5 mbps UL/DL a few days back. That’s like 15 years old telecom adsl internet speeds… I type something into Google and it starts loading after 10-12 seconds..

Hey @deuceislord,

Please try a Manual Roam, see if that improves things:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap ‘Network & Internet’.

  3. Tap ‘Internet’.

  4. Tap the settings cog.

  5. Scroll down and turn off the ‘Automatically select network’ toggle.

  6. Tap ‘Choose Network’.

  7. Choose a different network (Vodafone, EE or O2 - UK).

  8. Wait 1 minute.

  9. Tap ‘Choose Network’

  10. Choose ‘iD Mobile’.

Thanks.

Hi,

Did you ever solve this? I have exactly the same result in central Manchester: 124Mbps down, 0.08Mbps up. It makes actually using the data I’m paying for an exceptionally frustrating experience.

The steps provided by Matthew T did not make any difference.

Thanks.

Hi,

Nothing really to solve. I live in Greater LDN, and Three’s network is on its knees due to being the cheapest provider and many people are using their services. At 3AM when near a high capacity tower you can experience speeds of 300-400mbits. But daytime I can’t even browse web pages or stream music..

I used to have EE, it was leagues better with speeds of 120-140mbits at the exact same locations. Always had at least 20-40 mbits upstream when on EE, regardless of 4G or 5G network..

Had a Three sim before, was exact same as ID mobile in my borough. 1-2 mbits.

When traveling abroad, the roaming providers always had proper speeds on both EE, ID or Three while using the same device.

I used to repair these gadgets, trust me its never about the settings.. Those are automatically assigned for a long while.

Look... 0.29 upload is not adequate for a Whatsapp voice call even..

Vodafone and Three will merge soon and then things might change. But it’s not going to happen in 2-3 years yet..

Ah, and I forgot to mention, contacted customer services via Facebook 2-3 timres, and after sending them a few screenshots they’ve told me to change provider..

Try Cellmapper app, you’ll see all the towers around you from all the different providers etc.. or which one you actually connecting to. It helps to choose the right provider. I don’t use mobile data that much, therefore not concerned like crazy.. but makes me question that why do I pay if it doesn’t work 🤣
