4G issues across Europe


Over the past year and a half using ID mobile I have traveled across France Italy Greece and Spain, often staying within central cities and across this time the 4G network has NEVER worked. I have continually checked the network, changed different options of network, checked data roaming etc and the data never works. 
this is extremely disappointing and to see that ID are increasing fares when the phone cannot even be used abroad if appalling. Having previously been with Vodafone I never had an issue with this for years. Please can someone share how this can be resolved or look into this. 
 

Are others facing this or is this a singular problem? Either way I would appreciate it being resolved ASAP before the summer as I will once again be left without any data.

@Sarahcb9 Sorry to hear your experience with the Roaming while overseas.

Had you checked to make sure roaming was actived on your account and phone before leaving bthe UK? 

To check that roaming's activated on your account, log-in to the iD Mobile app or My Account online, go to 'My Services' then 'Roaming'. If it's off, toggle it on.

You can check that data roaming's activated on your phone in its settings. The exact method for doing this depends on the phone you're using, so check out the instruction leaflet if you're unsure. Or Google it.

Hi Joe, 

Confirming I have roaming on in settings and it is on in my phone settings too. Is this a common issue? The 4G seems to turn on abroad but never actually works or loads anything. I previously did not have this issue so it must be a network think, but, as I  outlined above this is an issue across Europe apart from the UK. 

Not sure if there have been similar issues that have been resolved. Just as the fee is being increased I would hope this simple thing can be resolved as I cannot use any data abroad.

Hey there ​@Sarahcb9, we hope the kind advice from ​@JoeKing has been able to help.

 

You’ll need to ensure roaming is enabled via both the iD Mobile app/website, and via the phone’s own settings.

 

If abroad and it’s not working, please try manually selecting different available networks and see if that works.

 

We’d also reccommend restarting your phone and resetting network settings on arrival.

 

Unfortunately however, it’s difficult to understand what the issue may be if you’re not currently abroad, so if next time you go abroad and the above doesn’t automatically help, then please contact us immediately so we can troubleshoot and raise to our technical team if needed for you.
