After 3G switch off, 4G coverage is non-existant

So, according to the coverage checker, my location is not covered by iDmobile/Three 4G or 5G signals. I guess that means leaving iDmobile for another operator that does?  I find it odd that iDmobile makes no mention of that eventuality.

Hi @CloudbustingDad

Sorry to hear this, please could you provide the postcode(s) where you’re having issues?

We’ve mentioned the 3G switch off for a while now, we’d recommend the below;

Hi @Fran Richards,

Welcome to the Community!

Which make and model handset are you using?

Is voicemail enabled on your iD Mobile app?

I won’t share postcodes in the community posts, as they would publicly identify where I am located.

The link you shared does not help with what to do when 3G signal goes and I have no real 4G or 5G coverage where I live. The only solution offered at the link is Wifi calling, which is really not a viable solution as calls are often dropped or not received. I am using 1gbps FTTP and have strong wifi signal throughout my location, which makes wifi calling as good as it’s going to be in that situation.

Seems like the only option open to me is to leave iDmobile (4 numbers + contracts) for another operator that doesn’t use Three signal?

Hi there @CloudbustingDad

I won’t share postcodes in the community posts, as they would publicly identify where I am located.

Same here. I’m a private person and respect the privacy of others. I too am having some significant 4G issues myself, so thought I’d comment. Non of it will help just posting to let you know you’re most certainly not alone.

The link you shared does not help with what to do when 3G signal goes and I have no real 4G or 5G coverage where I live.

It should have offered some other things to check - more so enabling 4G or LTE but with either needing VoLTE. But yes like yourself 4G here is almost non existent. So I know exactly how you feel and what you’re going through. So with that said does Three report any known issues on the following link (it will need your postcode)?

https://www.three.co.uk/content/experience-fragments/threedigital/uk/en/site/mvno/network-status-checker/idmobile.html

(mines does constantly)

And even if it does or does not show any issues you can also put your postcode in here - it default to 4G, just toggle to 3G and 5G. It will likely confirm you have poor signal indoors or outdoors

https://www.three.co.uk/content/experience-fragments/threedigital/uk/en/site/mvno/coverage-checker/idmobile.html

(no 3G here, 4G claims to be excellent🙄, 5G no chance!)

The only solution offered at the link is Wifi calling, which is really not a viable solution as calls are often dropped or not received.

Again, something I could have written myself. I tried this and if I have 2 bars (min) it works, 1 bar (actually -128dBm)  and it does drop the call for me too. I have reverted to using installed apps to make some calls.

Seems like the only option open to me is to leave iDmobile (4 numbers + contracts) for another operator that doesn’t use Three signal?

I genuinely wish you all the best. EE doesn’t work here (tried that), O2 doesn’t too (came from that) and we were going to move to Vodafone but with the pending merger with Three, that got kicked into the long grass too. I’ll be back to pigeons before too long.

Thanks so much for your reply. It seems that the coverage checker for 4G is accurate, as I’m shown in a “not-spot” for 4G and 5G isn’t available in my area. Frustrating as I don’t live in the middle of nowhere.

I hope you find a solution for your situation too.

*short rant: I can get good 4G/5G signal around the whole of Iceland coast, in remote parts of Canada, but not it seems in the UK which obviously has far more challenging landscapes to deal with*

Oooh.So you’re in a similar boat to me then.Though in my case 4G is ‘supposed’ to be excellent indoors and outdoors. And I’m also not out in the sticks either.

Also I genuinely hope yours improves soon 🤞

Same here. Went Vigo, Porto, Lisbon and Cherbourg - FULL signal at all of those places and as we were on a cruise there were potentially 000’s of others jumping onto these roaming networks at the same time.

It does really make you question the UK being one of the world leaders🤐

Hi @CloudbustingDad

Okay, in this case we can get in touch privately to take a look into postcodes or for a quicker service, we’d recommend using the Live Chat, Facebook or Twitter.
