after switch still unabke to use iMessages and FaceTime and more

I joined id mobile just over a week ago and I was finally able to switch my old phone number to this provider yesterday. It was a nightmare as my previous account (and my old phone number) stopped working at around 10 am and my id community eSIM did not switch to the old number until 5pm or so(about 7 hours later). Nevertheless, there were still issues as some important texts (especially from abroad) could not be received and FaceTime and iMessage did not work. This morning the status quo is more or less the same, I tried virtually any thing to set up iMessage and FaceTime but nothing seem to work and I have never had a problem like that before. What is wrong with this provider?

Have you configured your phone correctly? You’ll need to remove or delete your old O2 SIM or eSIM and ensure the phone number is entered correctly in settings. It must begin with +447 and not 07.

  1. Open ‘Settings’.

  2. Tap ‘Apps’.

  3. Tap ‘Phone’.

  4. Tap ‘My Number’.

  5. Enter your mobile number, using +44 instead of the first 0.

  6. Tap ‘Save’.

When switching network providers, I also recommend performing a network reset.

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Tap General.

  3. Scroll down to Reset.

  4. Tap Network Reset.

  5. Confirm by entering your device passcode.

  6. Wait for the reset to complete. Your device will restart automatically.

Ports can and do take 24hrs to complete and happen between 9am and 6pm, so you where within that time period..

Nothing wrong with ID Mobile, its changes you need to make on your iPhone and that is what Apple provide instructions on how to do it…

Hi @cosnick365, my apologies for the inconvenience caused by this.

Please follow the follow instructions as they will assist with having your phone recognize 0the ported number. Please switch off the wifi when doing these settings.
- Check have updated iOS
1. Update the correct number
* Go to Settings > Phone > My Number.
* Replace the temporary number you find there with your own number. use +44 instead of the first 0.
* Then tap Save.
Reset iMessage settings
Your iMessage settings won't reset themselves during porting - the temporary number will still be in your new iPhone.
To input your ported number into your new iPhone:
* Go to Settings
* Tap on Messages
* Tap iMessage ON
* Scroll down to Send & Receive number
* Replace the temporary number with your ported number
* Then tap Save.
2. toggle off imessage then reboot and then toggle on after 3-4 minutes and reboot the device
3. go to Setting -> Messages -> Click send & receive -> see if You
can receive imessage to and Reply from'
see if the correct number is displayed under Start new conversations
from and also advise to tick only on either his Mobile number or his email address to send iMessage
After doing all this advice to reboot the device and then try to start a conversation. If this does not work, please contact Apple or try a replacement sim.

@cosnick365

Have a look at the instructions from Apple found here

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/119859#:~:text=If%20your%20phone%20number%20still,an%20eSIM%20in%20Settings%20later.

Also try these steps

  1. Check your connection: Ensure you have a strong Wi-Fi or cellular data connection. iMessage activation requires an internet connection and uses SMS for phone number verification, so you must also be able to send and receive regular text messages.
  2. Verify Date and Time settings:
    • Go to Settings > General > Date & Time.
    • Make sure Set Automatically is toggled on and the time zone is correct.
  3. Perform an iMessage and FaceTime restart:
    • Go to Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage.
    • Go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off FaceTime.
    • Restart your iPhone (power it off, wait a few minutes, and turn it back on).
    • Go back to Settings > Messages and turn on iMessage.
    • Go back to Settings > FaceTime and turn on FaceTime.
  4. Check "My Number" setting:
    • Go to Settings > Phone > My Number.
    • Confirm your phone number is correct. If it's not, enter the correct number.
  5. Sign out and back into your Apple ID:
    • Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive.
    • Tap your Apple ID at the top, then tap Sign Out.
    • Restart your phone.
    • Go back to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and sign back in with your Apple ID.
  6. Check for a carrier settings update:
    • Go to Settings > General > About.
    • Stay on this screen for up to a minute. If a carrier settings update is available, a pop-up will appear, and you should follow the prompts to install it.

Hi,

I did all of that and more few times and it did not work. I even spoke with apple about the issue and they checked my phone settings by remote. So, I requested a replacement sim card (I am currently on eSim so maybe that is where the problem is) as I also have problems with texts (I can only send and receive them if connected to wifi and I cannot receive them from abroad) and will see if that sorts all the various issues.

FaceTime and iMessage are activated in the background via SMS. Since you mentioned problems sending and receiving SMS messages this is probably the cause.

Ok latest update. Finally, I am able to use FaceTime and iMessage as well as sms even without wifi. However, I am still unable to receive sms from abroad and this is particularly bad as I need to access to them for variety of reasons…hopefully, this will sort itself too. If not, I should be getting a replacement SIM card that might sort all the remaining issues with this sim transfer.

i will try to keep you posted.
