Why can’t I make phone calls in Germany? I have data but when I try to call I get a message saying, I’ve reached my call limit?

Hi @Rushie

When calling a UK number from Germany, please ensure you’re using the “+44” code at the beginning of a number and not “0”.

Hi @Rushie,

Welcome to the Community!

Is it a UK mobile or landline that you are trying to call or a German mobile number?

That number falls into the premium rate number category when not in the UK @Snowflake

I did read about this myself but can’t find where I read it.

Thanks, why does it not charge the rate? Is it possible to override it in the app?

Why you ask …. well I did find a reference to it here https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/international-and-roaming-charges

Note: The following numbers are blocked while Roaming: Premium numbers starting with 118, 09 non-premium non-geographic numbers (084, 087) and free numbers (080).

The only way, via the app, would be to enable premium on your account - BUT that might get pricey.

Or see if the business you want to call has an 01/02 number too. Some do show their alternative number when you’re not in the UK and want to call them.

Daz, thanks a lot. You are right and I have to enable premium numbers on the app. No other way!

Just keep an eye on how much it’s gonna rob you @Snowflake 🤐

Hi @Snowflake

You’ll be able to call a German number from the UK, however you’ll need to enable premium services and raise your bill cap.

Thanks for the help here @Daz_S.
