Hi there @Scorpion

The phone your got your mam on contract, when was this?

And was it direct from iD?

If it was an iD direct phone, has her area recently lost 3G?

Okay @Scorpion

If the phone is less than 12 months old, you could pop it into your local Currys if you still think the phones at fault.

For 3G have a read:

You can also stick the postcode in both of these

https://www.three.co.uk/content/experience-fragments/threedigital/uk/en/site/mvno/network-status-checker/idmobile.html

That one will say whether there are any known outages

And this one

https://www.three.co.uk/content/experience-fragments/threedigital/uk/en/site/mvno/coverage-checker/idmobile.html

Will show a map of your area. It defaults to 4G, but you can toggle between 3G and 5G too.

Both may also point to a cause.

Oh right okay then.

Does the data side of things work, both with and without WiFi?

Have you tried another providers SIM in your mams phone?

(iD state their phones are unlocked)

Does this show this other network?

Okay.

So there’s no data working at all, even on WiFi - sounds like a phone setting issue as even without a SIM data should still be working on the phone over WiFi.

Yes other SIM cards work - which then points to a SIM issue or the phone has remembered a change made when the iD SIM card was in the phone.

And other SIM cards show their network name - also sounds like a SIM issue or again the phone has retained settings changes for that iD SIM card - more so as you stated your mams iD SIM card works in other phones.

Well I’m confused!

What phone is it?

And have you tried resetting the network connections?

Hi @Scorpion,

What’s the make and model of the phone your mum’s using? Is it listed on the list below as being compatible with iD 4G voice calling?

What phone can I use with the iD Mobile Network? | iD Mobile Network

But it can’t be if other SIMs work in it 😮

I tell ya what, try this:

Settings → About phone → Software information → Look for Service providers software version

And let us know the last group of letters ie EVR/XEU,BTU/BTE at the end of that result.

Hi @Scorpion

Have you tried a replacement SIM since issues began?

In the suggested 3G switch off article, did you attempt the suggestions within that?

Tom

That’s not the first time I’ve heard an iD supplied phone doesn’t work after the 3G switch off. They do say their phones are compatible. I hope the few I’ve read about and now yours are going to be in the minority. More so as your mams is only 2.5yrs old. That is NOT old IMHO 🤐

Anyway, glad to hear you sorted it out in the end!👍
