Question

fed up

Am fed up paying for mobile contract that cannot provide a decent signal. I know alot of it is due to 3g mast switch off. But surely it would have made more sense to have new masts ready to replace old 3g.

I pay for service that gives me limited coverage.  I expect to be able to obtain coverage no matter where I  am. We should be getting a refund on are contracts until this issue is sorted

Your expectations are way too high! No mobile network in the world can provide a signal anywhere, not even a satellite phone.

I expect a reasonable signal level, but when you continually get just one bar or message saying you have no Internet access on and off all day.

What would you think. !!

Personally, I test network coverage before signing long-term contracts. Has signal always been an issue for you?

If coverage has always been poor where you live or where you travel frequently, and you’re currently committed to a minimum term contract, there are few options available. You can take advantage of Wi-Fi calling or pay an early termination fee to switch networks.

It might be worth entering your postcode below to check both coverage and service status.

I hope it’s just a temporary issue caused by maintenance in your area.  🤞🏻

No original the signal was good. It's since they have cut off 3g masts.  So therefore I feel it is unfair to expect us to continue paying for a service we are no longer getting

Hi @Pauline2  is this a new build area perhaps? The postcode isn’t showing as a valid one?

Can you try following this article to see if this helps? - I can't use my mobile data (4G/5G) on my SIM. What should I do? | iD Mobile Community

This article may also be of help - 3G is being switched off and I can't make calls. What do I need to do? | iD Mobile Community

In December 2021, the UK government announced 2G and 3G will be phased out by 2033. By switching off these networks, Three can focus funds and resources on new, more efficient 4G/5G tech. And that’ll benefit you even more. Three is not the only network turning off 3G; other networks in the UK and abroad are phasing out their 3G networks too.

Try PE274NB that's a couple miles up the road.

And yes I've tried all the things listed and work to bring network back up when it drops but makes no difference to signal strength

Thank you @Pauline2, when you have issues, are you connected to 3G, 4G or 5G please?

Have you tried resetting network settings?

Are calls, texts and data affected?

Thanks,

Tyler

Im in the same boat I live in PE14XZ and it's completely unacceptable that the phone signal is 1 bar and basically the data and even calls and texts are unavailable. It's criminal to be charged a contract fee every month for a service which isn't being provided im going to report them because this is outright criminal and I'm sure if it went all the way to Court you would win as the business provider is not providing you with the service promised.

The amount of important legal phone calls im missing and looking like im unavailable too is outrageous literally ruining my life.

Hey there @Pauline2, no problem. Does it affect calls and texts also, or just data?

Thanks,

Tyler

Call quality not always good and text can take ages to cone through and had them is disappear.

How many questions are you gonna ask b4 you tell me there is nothing you can do. It's due to the 3g switch off.

Ive told you. You have to speak to anybody agent via the live chat and ask for a phonecall and explain your problems as to why you need a phonecall you then have to agree to cancel your contract and move to another provider sadly. You have the rights to cancel under the supply of goods and seevices act 1982. I'm currently waiting myself for a phonecall to do the same. We kinda have no choice i do not believe there signal is going to get better in our area as mine has been awful since I signed up around 6 months ago.

I signed up over a year ago and signal was fine it's only since they turned of 3g mast which used to help leapfrog the 4 and 5g sigaround.

As all providers are in the same boat who do you move too.

Have friends on O2, EE and Vodafone who all saying they have same issues

Ive already had to go buy a 2nd phone and get a giffgaff sim had it weeks now it always has full bar signal and no issues with data. I now use that phone and that number as my main had no choice.

None at all. Basically i got rid of my wifi 2 months ago and that's when I noticed my phone was really bad service before I had calls and people would break up and not hear me but I was always super busy so assumed i didn't take much notice but since then I've been less busy and ive been using my data its all awful like signal calls texts data all incredibly bad completely unacceptable so then I bought a 2nd phone and got a giff gaff sim and my signal is just fine it's always high and my data has no issues even on like my snapchat it comes up way earlier when I get a notification on my giff gaff phone when I post stuff online it's instant but anything related to my ID sim takes an eternity even very simply things like uploading a picture or posting a story. It sucks but it's the only advice I can give. I think you have to report it and allow them to try to fix the service within a 30 day period while documenting you're issues after that im pretty certain legally you should be allowed to exit your contract financial penalty free as they aren't providing you with the service you signed up for.
