i have next to no reception in Edinburgh city centre, is anyone else experiencing this?

Recently took out an ID mobile contract after 10 years with Tesco mobile. I have next to no reception in Edinburgh city centre, voice calls cut off and when using WhatsApp also poor. Is anyone else seen this? Very surprised and disappointed.

If no issues show it may be worth testing the SIM in a different handset or a replacement SIM.

Recently took out an ID mobile contract after 10 years with Tesco mobile. I have next to no reception in Edinburgh city centre, voice calls cut off and when using WhatsApp also poor. Is anyone else seen this? Very surprised and disappointed.

Have you tried using the SIM in your old phone ( if you have one) to make sure it isn't the phone. Tesco use O2 which is probably the best provider I've ever used but very expensive. iD use Three Network which definitely isn't as good. I was up in Edinburgh before Christmas and I remember the network being patchy...

Thanks, the iPhone handset is brand new and I do not have the issues (that I’ve noticed) anywhere else. It’s the same place.

Did you have any joy with another device?

My experience is that the reception around most of Edinburgh seems to be very poor.  I have resigned myself to just having to see out the contract and accept the fact that I get a poor 4G signal, never mind the 5G signal that the coverage map seemed to suggest I would get in some places.

I’ll definitely be going back to my previous network at the earliest opportunity.

Is the issue with data, calls or texts, or all three please?

The issue is with general network reception which impacts all of the above but particularly data when out and about. 

 

I have carried out tests and it's not the phone. The level of reception shown in the image below is standard across Edinburgh whether inside or out and it's almost always 4G.

Hi 

did you get any resolution I have struggled on Princes Street for months can’t get a signal until I pass Haymarket.  I’m tied in until next year it’s shocking.

I’ll order a replacement sim but my daughter is with ID and we both have no reception in the same area

I live in Edinburgh and have no network at all. This was the case all day yesterday, and still happening today. I travelled across the city yesterday, but didn't see the network connect at any point.

Can't get in to the ID Mobile app either. Feel a bit helpless here. I'm actually heading to the Netherlands today and worried that I'll have no comms while I'm out there.

Roaming in Netherlands should work fine so long as you’re all set up for roaming.

My postcode is EH10 6UG, and I've got a Pixel 6a. Need to add that phone seems to work just fine in the Netherlands.
