Question

iD signal on the move is unusable

I use my mobile for business calls every single day, and my 50 mile each way journey is the same route, using some of the busiest roads in the country (M4 between junctions 12 - 10 & other nearby major routes)...yet for 90% of the journey I cannot use my phone due to the horrendous signal failure that results in me having to keep ringing people back time and time again - it's embarrassing, unprofessional and I end up losing over 2 hours of valuable time per day.

I have tried every option available of advice given, and nothing is working, and i am at the point of jacking in this contract with iD and going to another network that's going to give me better and more reliable signal, because I cannot afford to be losing out on work due to this.

How can I get out of my contract? Because iD is not providing me with the service I need.

Hi @Paulcottrell

Thank you for getting in touch.

We are sorry to hear of the issues you have been facing with the service, we appreciate this must be frustrating and we would want to do all we can to help.

Can you please confirm the following?

  • Example postcodes of where you experience issues
  • Are you connecting via 4G or 5G (if both please confirm)
  • What is your handset make/model

Thanks,

Natalie

Hi Natalie,

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S23 - I just use whatever the phone automatically connects to - this is just purely for cellular phone signal...not using Internet to make calls.

Some post codes i go through are OX12, OX11, RG20, RG18, RG14, RG7, RG8, RG30, RG27, RG29, GU51 & GU14

Thanks

Paul

There is no way to say this without coming across a rude, but if you want to look professional, then maybe don’t scrimp on your communication costs and get yourself a business plan with one of the main networks.

To answer your question, iD Mobile plans are for personal use, not business. See clauses 5.3, 5.9, 9.6 and 13.2 of the terms and conditions of your agreement. So, to answer your question, no, you cannot use the issues mentioned above as a reason to exit your contract early penalty free.

If you’re having issues with Three, I would maybe try EE via Someone like Mozillion or Lyca Mobile, or even 1p mobile, if the issues go away, then you switch providers

as much as I like ID mobile, I was using the service yesterday on the bus to Leeds and for some reason in Armley, even with full 4G signal, nothing loaded

I am hoping things will improve

If you don’t want your card details leaked then avoid Lyca like the plague!

I get your point, but regardless whether it's business or personal - it's irrelevant...the signal is crap for when I need it most.  But thanks for your input so the same 👍🏻
