Issues with network?

I've been sent an email saying my esim is being prepared for my upgrade ordered last night, but I have had no network at all since around midday. Is this normal?

I assumed I'd have to activate the esim in an email or something when my new phone gets here.

At present I am stuck trying to work with no mobile....

I had an eSIM in my iPhone 15 pro max and purchased an iPhone 16 pro max from Apple on release day. I spoke to live chat who sent me a new eSIM but my old eSIM didn’t stop working until I activated the new eSIM. It doesn’t sound right to me that you are left with no service whatsoever but I’m not familiar with the upgrade process through iD.

You can speak with live chat or wait until the morning for a mod to pick this up.

Yes, I think I'll need to try chat. When I'm in the office I can use WiFi calling, but as soon as I'm out and about it is causing me real issues. I can't imagine it is a coincidence, but equally if I can't see why arranging an upgrade would cause this issue!

Have you got any mobile signal at all when out and about? If you can use WiFi calling then sounds like your still connected but have weak signal. When you say WiFi calling is that using an app?

Believe it or not, they have confirmed that they deactivate the old SIM when they process the upgrade, meaning that the customer then has no functioning SIM until the new one arrives. There is nothing they can do about it apparently, which means I am unable to work until the new handset arrives.

Bonkers, in all my years of mobile owning I have never experienced anything like this!

Wow. Doesn’t seam logical whatsoever. I guess you could goto your nearest Curry’s Store with photo ID and get a replacement physical SIM card. And then when the new phone arrives either use that or swap it for an eSIM.

Hey there @SlcIow, we’re very sorry to hear that your new SIM was activated on order and you’re now without one.

If you are in urgent need of one, please visit a local Currys store where you can pick one up for free and activate to your plan. Or, you can request a new eSIM via the iD Mobile app/website following the below instructions:

Tap 'Plan'.

Scroll down.

Tap ‘SIM & phone management’.

Tap ‘Request a replacement SIM or eSIM’.

Tap ‘Get a replacement eSIM’.

Double check your Billing email address. Tap ‘Continue’.

Tap ‘Yes, I want a new eSIM’.

Complete! Tap ‘Done’.

Thanks,

Tyler
