@Matthew T

Hi,

I recently swapped from EE at the start of July to ID and at the minute it is one of the biggest mistakes of my life. My signal is absolutely diabolical, I live in Buxton but never had any problems with EE in the main town area and now I can’t even get signal to message people. The coverage checker shows good coverage but my friends all around me were able to message, search with ease and I couldn’t get a thing.

Is there a way to write to ID as I’m aware I’m out of the cooling period but I am FAR from happy!

Thanks

Hi @charlie4,

Welcome to the Community!

Sorry to hear about the issues that you experienced and are still experiencing.

Did you purchase directly from iD Mobile or different retailer? If you purchased from us you have 30 days for a return so you would still be in the returns period if you purchased in July.

Please let us know and we can PM you.

Kash

Hi Kash,

I purchased from Carphone Warehouae who look like they only offer 14 days but I am on to them as it is due to the poor quality service being received as a customer.
Is it not the case that you offer 30 days, how come they do not?

Thanks

I have been on the phone to them and they won’t do anything as it is outside of their 14 day cooling off period and asked me to contact you. Genuinely, I can’t do anything in some places where it says ‘good coverage’ send messages, download webpages it’s terrible!

Hi @charlie4

The returns period will be slightly different from vendor to vendor, it’ll be worth checking what yours is when purchasing in any case.

Please could you let us know the postcode(s) where you’ve had issues with coverage?

Hi Tom,

They have said they can’t do anything so I have raised a complaint with ID before going to the communications ombudsman. I have a document that shows places I have been and their signal is rated as ‘good’ by the signal checker on your website however, as aforementioned I could not do a thing. The OFCOM signal checker had a very different look and I wished I had looked at this prior to my purchase. Postcodes are below;

SK179GL - not expecting signal here as notoriously bad and was on EE

SK176BE - was sat in the middle of town, no signal to call text, surf the web. Person next to me on EE no problem.
SK178NE - was able to send and receive iMessage slowly. Could not go on webpages or download a picture to WhatsApp (I have screenshot this)

DE61HA - my data actually stopped working, maps went off. Did not know where I was. Unable to send any messages, phone or anything. This is in the middle of a town.

I was on chat to ID yesterday and tried all the changing settings etc etc. To be honest I just want out my contract as it’s causing me distress.

As you can see, I’m a little bit annoyed as I don’t feel the 14 day period was enough with the company to test areas I go regularly. These areas are places I go to and do not receive anything so literally makes my phone pointless to me!

thank you for your help

Hi @charlie4

Okay, if you’ve already raised a complaint with us, we’d recommend continuing directly with that team already on your case.

As mentioned, the coverage checker is not 100% accurate. Upon purchase in a Currys store the assistant makes you aware of the 14 day cooling off period.
