new customer - no coverage in my neighbourhood

Please help. I’m a new customer and do not know how to contact ID Mobile. I have 2 bars of 4G signal outdoors around the area where I live but never any data connection. According to ID Mobile coverage checker I should have “excellent service” in and outdoors. According to OFCOM checker I should have “good outdoor” coverage.  Why no data here?  All apps and speed checkers on my phone consistently agree I have no data connection - they just time out with an error. Help!!

Have you tried performing a network reset?

Steps for Network Reset:

  • For iPhone: Open Settings, tap General, tap Transfer or Reset iPhone, tap Reset, select Reset Network Settings, enter your passcode, then tap Reset Network Settings.
  • For Samsung Galaxy and most other Android phones, the steps may vary but generally involve going to Settings, finding the reset or backup and reset option, and selecting Reset Network Settings.

Important Consideration:

No stored information like Apps, Contacts, and Photos will be deleted during a network reset.

Thanks for reminding me. Just tried the network reset - no change. It’s not even intermittent here. Zero data.

If I travel to most other locations I do have data (except central London - but that’s another shameful story..)

How do I get support? What if there is a localised fault? How do I let the provider know?

Thanks.

Holy cow. ID Mobile agent on chat just now told me “After conducting a thorough check on the service checker, I can confirm that there is an ongoing unplanned outage in your area. This work commenced at 16:16 25-Mar-2025 and its still ongoing. It's important to understand that unplanned work is not scheduled by us at iD Mobile, and it is likely the reason for the current poor service you are experiencing. We do apologize for this inconvenience caused.

This is an unexpected network outage that can occur at any time due to unforeseen system failures as a result of many different failures, including hardware and software malfunctions, operator mistakes or even cyberattacks. By nature, you will not be informed prior to an unplanned power outage because we are unable to foresee this.”

Nearly 4 months of no data service in my area!  And no ETA! They refused any refund or compensation now. I really made a duff choice here.  Agent told me to send in a complaint.  What else can I do? I should be released from the contract right? Breach of contract. Service not as advertised. …

You said in your opening post that you’re a new customer? If so, you should take advantage of iD Mobiles cooling off period and cancel.

Hey there @Mez68, we’re very sorry to hear about your coverage issues, and the on-going work mentioned above.

As advised by @WelshPaul, if you’re a new customer and within the returns period, then of course you’d be welcome to set up a free return with us, to cancel the contract.

Thanks,

Tyler

Thanks for the guidance. I have been away travelling. It is now day 16 of my contract. Anyone know what the cooling off period is? https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/returns-cancellations does not state how long.

Hey there @Mez68, where did you order from directly please (I.e iD Mobile online, Currys online, Currys in-store, Mobiles.co.uk, E2Save, Carphone Warehouse etc?

Also, what date?

Thank you,

@Tyler C June 23rd from Mobiles.co.uk.

(I’ve lodged a complaint with ID Mobile today about the total absence of data service in my locality - weirdly they’re still blaming the local council for the problem. I’ve asked the council about it - no word yet - I find it unlikely they will know what’s going on).

Hey there @Mez68, thank you. The returns period for Mobiles.co.uk is typically 14-days, however, if you’ve raised a complaint, the complaints team may be able to make an exception and will be able to help further. I’d advise you await further updates now from the complaints team, and keep in touch directly with them to resolve.

Many thanks,

Tyler
