Question

No 5G network coverage

So before joining iD mobile, I read their website which says they cover 5G network. So I went on the Coverage checker as-well as the status checker which stated “Yes-5G is available, you can use our 5G network for mobile internet, calls and texts”. So I bought the sim and I was on 4G not 5G. My phone is 5G compatible as it’s the iPhone 13 Pro. I contacted support chats several times and had done all the troubleshooting which was required of me such as, going out of my area 1 metre away, resetting my network settings, turning on airplane mode off and on, updating my phone to the latest updates, switching phone off and on, setting my network settings on 5G auto or 5G on. As well as, picking iD instead of automatic in my settings. After doing all that I’m still stuck on 4G. The support chats had said that yes there is 5G available in my area but apparently there was an outage. So I would need to wait for that by checking the status checker. So now that I’m up to date with the status checker and there’s no outage message it now states, “Our system has not reported any system issues” and still no 5G. The WiFi in my area for wifi networks are 5G. Previously I was on 3 mobile and my area was 5G but soon as I move to id mobile there’s no 5G. So I spoke to support chats and complaints recently and they are saying I do not have 5G coverage. When the website states otherwise. I feel like iD mobile shouldn’t say on their website that I have 5G coverage when I apparently do not as they are not providing the service that they  are advertising.

So my Question was when will I ever get 5G on iD mobile?

Hi @Username98

Sorry to hear this, please could you let us know the postcode(s) where you’ve had this issue?

5G is unfortunately not always available everywhere and in a lot of areas, 4G may still be the stronger option of the two.

@Tom my postcode is M8 4HG, that’s the thing if 5G wasn’t available it shouldn’t say it is available on the website and I know it’s available because my wifi broadband runs on 5G and my previous mobile network 3 was 5G.

Hi @Username98

Taking a look your postcode is quite weak for 5G, we’d recommend 4G in this area over it.

Same in Southampton, it's driving me crazy. I'm switching between ID and my WiFi. Had no issues with 5G in Poland though. Seriously... It's 21 century, fix it!

Hey there @Agnieszka Jaskulska, we’re sorry to hear that. What’s the full postcode please?

Thanks,

Hi Tyler…

If you are asking for the postcode I already know the answer to my post. It's really difficult for me to comprehend that in this day and age England is still using phone lines for the internet, and each provider drill their own wholes, although they're all using BT engineers 🫣

I honestly did not expect issues with 5G coverage as most of the world has it for years now. I will never learn from my mistakes...

Hi @Agnieszka Jaskulska

We are sorry to hear you feel this way/

Providing the postcode does help us to check coverage in the area but if you wish, you can do this yourself here
