No data BN15 Lancing, West Sussex

No data since the 20th of May 2025.

Tried the useless chat facility, quite seriously spend nearly 9 hours ! across many days trying to get some answers.

Raised formal complaint and then received a call back from someone in the UK. Told within minutes that there is a local cell down. for SEVEN DAYS ? highly unlikely. Although whilst talking to her and fighting to finish a sentence, I did find on the three website that there is service issues in the area.

The call eventually broke down because the advisor seems to think its okay to constantly interrupt and shout over me. when asked to let me finish my sentence she slammed down the phone. lovely lady. probably hates men and doesn't like that we might have something valid to say.

called back a filed a complaint about the verbal abuse from the previous woman and as the call went on in a reasonable grown up way. I was told that the merger of id mobile and vodaphone last week might well be the problem, he had been speaking to others who also on the same day had been experiencing problems.

Anyone else been experiencing problems since the 20th or 22nd as it appears when this merger was advertised. Are we now receiving no service or a bad service as a result ? is there a hidden agenda here ?

Hi @last-sane-person  sorry to hear of the trouble you have had with your coverage.

Have the Complaints Team been able to advise you of an ETA for a fix? It isn’t always possible, but we can sometimes get an approximate date.

No. I’ve not had any estimate of a fix.

I’ve been told the whole cell is down,

Seems unlikely that is true, at this time 27/05/25 17:20 there is no data but calls/text are working.

No reliable data since the 20th and total loss on the 22nd.

id Mobile is NOT merging with VODAFONE; you’re confused. It’s “3”.

id Mobile is a CURRYS brand who’s network provider [currently] is “3”

“Id Mobile” is a MVNO - to those who don't know that's essentially a virtual network running on top of a physical network operated by another providor.

MVNO’s do deals with the physical network and buy up space and resell it under their brand. There will be restrictions on service both imposed by the parent network and the MVNO. But usually if the coverage is good for the parent then the MVNO customer will generally get the same coverage. But not always.

EG Virgin Mobile used to be on Vodafone, it was a good stable reasonably priced service backed by a stable and reliable company. VM switched to O2 and now its dreadful because the general coverage and deal is awful. They all use LTP iand so a VM customer will get knocked off a channel in preference to an O2 customer.

Three and Vodafone are merging :

https://vodafoneandthree.uk/home

This is having a fundamental effect on the structure of the networks, their operating and settings, so it steads to reason this will have a knock on effect to the MVNO’s on the network being effected. In this case ID mobile..

Another twist amongst this is that Erricson maintain and support huge parts of the mobile networks in the UK and those deals will be effected too.

looking up the APN in our area on a local cell resolves to a vodafone server where as in the area where we are having usses, that still resolves to a three server.

Which brings us back to a previous question regarding the APN settings.

Networking is that topic that every thinks they know about because they’ve followed the howto and set a wifi code in their phone.

Firstly, I require confirmation that my GDPR request to delete my personal information from your message system has been actioned.

Secondly, mysteriously the data has started working over night. We now move to compensation for the loss of service for over a week. I wont ask what you did, because history dictates that you either do not know or you wont tell me. But I remain interested..

Just a point to note. Three is responsible for maintaining the network not iD. So the issue would have affected all MVNOs that use the Three network and Three customers themselves. Glad it’s sorted for you now though.

Keep in mind : we have neighbors that are directly on THREE and they were not effected.

Best not to blame the parent network when the evidence says otherwise.

Still none the wiser why it was “just” ID mobile effected.

Just need to be compensated for the loss of service now.

Today I have received a letter saying that I am eligible for a refund following the recent closure of the account.

“I” HAVE “NOT” CLOSED THE ACCOUNT !!

WHAT INCOMPETENCE HAS CAUSED THIS?

Hi @last-sane-person  we will continue to discuss this with you in our message.

Did my comment help answer your question? If so, don't forget to mark the response as the Most Helpful Answer.

Nope, but they rarely do, its about appearing to help and making a post, doesn't matter if its irrelevant as long as the post count increases no one in authority cares that the content didn't help.

There would be a thumbs down to mark it unhelpful is they really wanted honest statistics.
