No Phone Signal For 4 Days - No help for a vulnerable customer

I am in my 70's and disabled and I am registered with iD mobile as a vulnerable customer. I have been with iD for 13 years on a monthly contract without issue. Last Wednesday I stopped being able to make and receive calls. I can still send and receive texts and access the Internet.

I phoned the vulnerable person helpline and reported the issue and was told I would be contacted in 24 hours. No contact was made. The following day I spoke to a different person who said I should have been told 48 hours for contact to be made although even that time scale has passed without contact being made.

The second person said they would send me a new SIM card as mine was 7 years old but said in the meantime as it was urgent I could collect one free of charge from Curry's which I did yesterday. The SIM card was replaced and registered and I duly received two emails confirming it was good to go.

Unfortunately it wasn't. My phone is in perfect working order and the SIM's from four friends phones who use other companies work fine in my phone but the iD SIM will also not work in any of their phones.

In desperation I went to a local phone dealer this morning and he tells me that since last Wednesday I am the 7th customer to go in with iD issues about calls.

Clearly iD has an issue but is not taking care of its customers

Just a thought is your phone 4g ready?
3G may have been recently switched off in your locality.

I’m guessing your device isn’t VoLTE enabled. What phone are you using?

I have the exact same problem. My iD sim will not work in mine or anybody's phone. If I put an O2 sim in my phone it works perfectly.

I have tried another iD sim that was is definitely working on another phone, it will not work ni mine.

It stopped working last Wednesday.

I went to Curry's to buy a new phone today only to be told they had lots of iD customers with the same issue and was advised to wait until the network was fixed?!

Yes my phone is 4G of course and the screen icon shows it is 4G as do all the internal settings. It worked perfectly until last Wednesday. As I say my SIM does not work in my friends 4G and 5G phones but their SIM's all work in mine. Clearly an iD issue. On the DownDetector website it shows a large covering of issues around my postcode area which iD are clearly not addressing. I have two new phones an Huawei 4G and a Samsung 5G but I have no phone calling or receiving ability in either. The fact that one of the friends I originally referred to has the same Huawei model phone as me and his non-iD SIM works fine in mine yet my SIM does not work in his shows there is no issue with my phone.

Who were you addressing, me? 4G and VoLTE are not the same thing.

Having put detailed info in my original message I thought I would abbreviate to 4G. However as it appears I have inadvertently upset someone my phone setting actually says - 4G LTE/VoLTE. Thanks to those who made helpful suggestions but I have resolved the issue in 25 minutes at my local phone store by seeking a PAC code and moving to another supplier. Overnight my old phone above now working perfectly on the same number. Absolutely delighted. After 13 years I am sorry to be leaving but iD no longer takes care of its customers. 5 days on and still the promised contact from customer services had failed to materialise.

Hey there @Sandgrown, we’re sorry to hear you’re having issues with calls.

This is likely due to the 3G turn off that began rolling out last week. Please read more below on what this is, and what to do:

If you have one of the phones from the below list, then 4G Volte and Wi-Fi calling should be able to be selected and work, and calls should still work:

If you have a phone that isn’t on this list, then it may or may not work, but we don’t officially support any phones outside of these and cannot say for sure if it will or not.

If the issue persists after following the troubleshooting above and confirming if your phone is approved, then please let us know here so we can investigate further.

Thanks,

Tyler

Just a thought… are you sure it’s not the Three disconnection and ID Mobile’s poor service

I have a Google Pixel 3a. It’s on the list and it says N/A. So on that basis I’d say it’s a) approved and b) untested. I went on Vodafone’s website (put in the IMEI code) and it says that my phone is VoLTE capable and enabled for WIFI calling. The real issue is that your network has decided not to make it compatible for lots of phones - these have to be enabled by the carrier, right?

@JHK if it says N/A - then it’s not compatible with VoLTE on iD Mobile. Thanks.
