Not receiving text messages


My phone is making calls fine and data but not receiving text messages from some NOT all providers. Two friends are Giff Gaff, one is O2.

I can send them texts, they send me and get charged but im not receiving them.

I can send and receive from other friends/ family.

Done network reset, phone reset etc but nothing working?

Im worried im not receiving texts from work/ doctors etc as i have no way of knowing who im not receiving texts from?

Anything else you can suggest please?

Hey there ​@JodyP, ​@CB01, ​@DavinaP & ​@Cfriel, we’re sorry to hear about your SMS issue.

 

We have been made aware via our technical team that there is an issue at the moment with a small amount of customers receiving text messages in certain areas.

 

Three UK are working on resolving this ASAP for all customers affected by this, and will hopefully have this fixed very shortly.

 

In the mean-time, we’d advise asking people to contact yourselves via third party sites such as WhatsApp, Messenger, even iMessage etc until this is resolved, if you’re in need of receiving texts from them.

It's a nightmare I am the same been like this since Friday 😕

@Cfriel  It would appear the problem is with communication with O2 which Giff Gaff is using O2 network. This problem may be on O2 side of things or a combination of O2 and IDMobile /3(Three).

Have you noticed anyone else experience similar issues in your postal area?

No I have family members with O2 also and no problems

@Cfriel  Have you checked to see if any problems have been reported in your postal area where your have this problem?

Try taking out your Sim.card and putting back into your phone and ask your contact that you have problems with texting to send you a text. 

If the above has no effect you may want to try the following below.

I have removed the sim, reset network and restarted phone on several occassions but still no joy 😨

Hi ​@Doobles14,

It sounds like the issue is with O2 related networks/numbers. 

Have you tried sending the message as iMessage/RCS?

@Cfriel are you also having issues with O2/GiffGaff?

I have tried that also rcs chat but still not working

I ported my sons Nr over which should have completed and since then he can receive texts and calls but if anyone rings or texts him it says number not recognised.  Have had a new SIM card and done network resets numerous times and still nothing.  I have no idea where to go from here.  The technical department are looking into it but don’t hold out much hope of a solution now 😭

Sorry to hear about this and it sounds like it may be a split port.

When was this escalated to the team? It can take around 72 hours for an update on their investigation.

Hi, thanks for the swift reply,  the good news is the phone has started working about an hour ago so the technical department must have sorted out the issue.

I'm having the same issue and have since Sunday. Can't receive text messages from GiffGaff numbers but can text them ok and take their calls. Tried all the suggested resets and nothing has helped.

I’m having the same issue too. I’m not receiving SMS messages from two contacts. Both are on o2’s network. I can send them and they are received by both recipients, but I don’t receive anything from them in return. I’ve been through all the steps above, but they haven’t helped.

Hi I also haven't been able to recieve texts from giffgaff O2 and Tesco network? Also when i switch my WiFi off I cant make or recieve calls. This has been since Friday so 5 days nearly 6 in total. This is no good at all. Paying a monthly contract to run off my WiFi?  My partner is o2 and both my kids are giffgaff. Only joined this network in January and I'm not impressed with weeks into a 2 Yr contract with them

Not been receiving text from o2 network since Thursday, spoke to numerous customer service reset all settings tried everything they suggest. They tried to convince me it may be an issue with o2 network. It's clearly not an issue with o2, they can send and receive but I can only send. Shocking service been 6 days now, if its not fixed soon I'll be canceling direct debit, no point paying for a service im not receiving

I agree. This is my 3rd issue since January. I joined this network as my brother is with them and gave great reviews. Were both within the same area. He isn't having a problem with his network yet I am?? Very confusing to me?? I've done all the troubleshooting suggested without any resolve.

I got around 60 texts through this morning around 7.30 from several different people

I still haven’t received any messages from my contacts on o2. I’ve switched my phone off and back on again and still nothing. Are the technical team still working on this or is it considered resolved now?

@DavinaP  there was an announcement yesterday with text messaging. There still ongoing working see this
