I have operated fine with ID network for 3 years. Suddenly today my phone won’t let me make calls, it just stays dead. Any suggestions?

Hi @alexbont8

Are your other services working as normal? Eg. Texts/Data.

If so, this may be related to our 3G switch off, in which some users have reported being unable to make phone calls.

3G is being switched off. What do I need to do? | iD Mobile Community

Hi Lauren - thanks for your response. It is just phone and has only happened over the past week and it now appears it is only when at home. My wife who is also an ID customer has no issues. My phone is 5g enabled too. I have tried all the suggestions that the live chat provides. Not sure what to do next as having phone signal at home is very important for me

Hi @alexbont8
What phone do you have?
Is VoLTE enabled on your handset? You need to have connection to the LTE (VoLTE - Voice over LTE) network to be able to make/receive calls. Google (other search engines are available) will be your friend on how to check this for your make/model.
When you say that you can’t make/receive calls ‘at home’ does this mean that you can when elsewhere? If yes, then this either means that you have the correct connection to the LTE (4G) network and it may be a coverage problem in your home area or the area you can make calls from is still covered by 3G which it can connect to.

Thanks for responding. I have an iPhone 15 and there is no VOLTE option on my phone so I am assuming it’s automatically on.
yes calls everywhere else other than home are ok. Before last week I have never had an issue with calls at home; my wife is also with the same network and she can make calls at home.

@alexbont8,

Have you checked the network status in your area in case there is work being carried out?

Hi @alexbont8

Hmmm curious 🤔
I found this link that shows how to check your VoLTE settings with an iPhone 15.
I can only think that it is the VoLTE setting as if it were any other setting then you wouldn’t be able to make/receive any calls at all. Check the coverage of the areas you can make calls in (using the link supplied by Kash above) to see of the 3G signal is still active and if so it is definitely the VoLTE setting (as your phone is dropping to 3G).
Does your wife have the same phone by any chance?  If she does (or you know someone else who does and that can make calls) it’s worth sitting down and going through each of the settings to see if there are any differences between the two phones.
I know this is frustrating but there is a simple answer we just need to find it 👍🏻
Happy New Year x
