I am getting concerned, as the 3G switch off, will eventually mean switching to 4G only. For some reason, although network coverage check claims 4G is Good....it isn't in Wivenhoe. I get 1 bar ...-115 dBm

While 3G is still good.

It's been like this for years, but I've got used to it, while 3G is available, but when its switched off, I think lots of users will be forced to switch to a different provider.

I’m at the frustrated stage, concerned likely being next. What you need to take into consideration is that the old 3G masts are being refashioned into 4G ones. Take service provider results with a large pinch of salt as IMHO they’re weighted in favour of the providers. Have you tried the Ofcom mobile checker - https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/mobile-coverage. As a comparison I can see -128dBM here on occasion.

Same here, kind of. Three UK confirmed my area has had its 3G turned off but I can still connect to it if I want to. The problem I do have is if I leave my phone in auto it stays on 4G until a call is underway whereby it then drops to 3G and this can drop the call, which is a pain.

Again, same here. Some may elect to move to another provider but in theory once the 3G masts are then 4G ones I’d hope to think all of us will have useable 4G.

That ofcom coverage checker is much better....well more realistic. Its showing indoor as 'likely'

Hopefully a Three/ID engineer can enlighten us to what happens to 3G equipment/masts ...do they get reused, or requires more investment?
